With dramatic volcanic peaks and an aquamarine lagoon backdropping expansive, lush gardens, the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa is your gateway to the archipelago of French Polynesia. On the vibrant main island of Tahiti, two kilometers from the airport, the exotic overwater bungalows and tropical accommodations are a sublime jumping-off point for must-see cultural events and enviable panoramas.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is the leading chain of luxury hotels in French Polynesia and one of the first to move into the archipelago. This early arrival meant that three resorts secured the most spectacular spots in the Society Islands and Bora Bora.

Though each property has a distinct personality, the three hotels of the InterContinental brand in French Polynesia all embrace the same philosophy. Each fits flawlessly with its natural surroundings, with overwater bungalows, and makes a great effort to protect the environment and local traditions.

In addition to a fitness center where visitors can keep up their fitness regimens while on vacation, there is a lovely jogging track that winds through the tropical gardens. Throughout each week, the resort stages several dynamic and illuminating cultural demonstrations.

Te mana o te moana: Te mana o te moana offers a 1-hour daily guided tour at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa to learn more about sea turtles, their life cycle, and the challenges they face.

Scuba Diving: At the center of the resort is the PADI 5-star Scuba diving center TOPDIVE, a hub where guests may book thrilling underwater excursions to explore Tahiti’s reefs and vibrant marine life.

Water Sports: Surrounded by the crystalline water of the South Pacific Ocean, the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa offers myriad water sports. Take a guided snorkeling or sailing trip, go on a surfing adventure, or plunge into the aquatic scene by kayak or jet ski.

Swimming Pools: The InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa boasts two stunning freshwater infinity swimming pools. An intimate option or a sand-bottomed pool perfect for relaxing and sunbathing, with its swim-up bar and Jacuzzi. It is known for its awe-inspiring views of Moorea. Or splash around in Te Tiare’s vast 1,200-square-meter swimming pool, complete with cascades and a Jacuzzi.

The Lagoonarium: A natural aquarium designed to provide a unique experience for guests to appreciate the beauty, diversity, and fragility of Tahiti’s reef environment. Located in a picturesque setting, Fare l'A Reserve aims to create awareness and promote the conservation of marine life.

Handicrafts and Shopping: Made with love, care, and knowledge passed down through generations, handicrafts are an important part of the culture and heritage of French Polynesia. Learn more about the elaborate processes behind these intricate art forms by attending our workshops and demonstrations with Tahitian mamas—local artisans skilled in panadus and coconut leaf weaving, pareo dyeing, quilt making, and basket weaving.

Cultural Demonstrations: Every week, the resort offers a variety of cultural demonstrations that highlight traditional Polynesian practices and techniques. The demonstrations include how to tie a pareu, open a coconut, and weave a basket.

The resort offers a diverse selection of excursions designed to showcase these winning attractions by land, air, and sea at a variety of fitness levels. For fun in the sun and saltwater, we offer jet ski tours, whale-watching expeditions, and deep-sea fishing. With enough time, plan a Bora Bora or Moorea full-day excursion, or relax with a leisurely morning of golf.

Culinary Experiences

It doesn’t get more vibrant—or gourmet—than dining at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa. From concerts at the Tiki Bar to traditional shows at Te Tiare and epicurean events at Le Lotus, they have it all.

Mini Heiva Tahitian Dance Show: If a true immersion into Polynesian culture is what you seek, look no further than our annual Mini Heiva festival. It takes place each year during the last week of July and the first week of August, depending on the official Heiva i Tahiti festival. This cultural extravaganza includes four exclusive shows featuring premier dance troupes, singers, and musicians from the famed Heiva i Tahiti.

Tahitian Sunday Brunch: Appreciated by guests and locals alike, the Sunday brunch buffet at the Te Tiare Restaurant is complete with a wide range of traditional Tahitian delicacies. Indulge in the fantastic ambience, lively Tahitian music, and live dance show from 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.

Theme Nights: Friday’s “Te U’i Tapairu” dinner show: A delectable buffet is served up alongside a traditional dance performance by the troupe Hei Tahiti at the signature Te Tiare restaurant.

Le Lotus Restaurant: Perched above the lagoon, our overwater Le Lotus Restaurant doubles as the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa’s most gourmet and romantic dining outlet. Its dreamy setting, beside the sand-bottomed swimming pool, allows guests to fully appreciate the surreal beauty of Tahiti and neighboring Moorea.

Te Tiare Restaurant: There is nowhere more idyllic to appreciate authentic Tahitian-style cuisine than the main restaurant, Te Tiare, overlooking the resort’s infinity pools and waterfalls. In the distance, gaze at Moorea’s stunning silhouette while chefs prepare gastronomic treats from the open kitchen, centrally located in the resort.

Tiki Bar: A popular rendezvous point for resort guests as well as local Tahiti residents is Tiki Bar, the primary destination for cocktails, located beside Te Tiare restaurant.

Le Lotus Swim-up Bar: Your Tahiti experience would be incomplete without a visit to our picturesque swim-up bar. An idyllic setting to savor French Polynesia, our pool bar serves icy drinks to quench every thirst, from tropical cocktails and fruit smoothies to French Champagne.

The Lobby Bar Terrace: For memorable sunset drinks, our chic Lobby Bar Terrace makes an elegant escape. This lounge provides not only a refined ambience for after-dinner cocktails or late-night sips but also panoramas of the lagoon and Moorea, best taken in alongside aperitifs and premium Champagne. The Lobby Bar Terrace is open 24 hours a day. day, and also offers a menu of light meals and snacks.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
