Of course, the next morning was bright and clear as we waited for the bus to return to El Calafate for a flight to Ushuaia, our next stop. At least we had a chance to see the mountains in all their glory, and contemplate an extended stay in Chalten when we retire. It was a short, hour-long flight from El Calafate to Ushuaia. The views from the plane as we approached the city were spectacular -- jagged mountains rising up dramatically from large expanses of water. The airport is located literally on the edge of the Beagle Channel and it looked like we were going to make a water landing. ''Tierra del Fuego may be described as a mountainous land, partly submerged in the sea, so that deep inlets and bays occupy the place where the valleys should exist.'' -- Charles Darwin (see Day 10 photos)
Mary Curry found right trip for my budget and the best date that I liked. She made

We had an initial virtual meeting with our trip planner, Sandra Fernandez, who was great. She was efficient, friendly, yet very professional. She not only answered all our questions, but also addressed our concerns honestly. After our 30-minute conversation with Sandra, we decided to book our cruise with her.

Although there was a lot of paper work, I received help and guidance when I needed it.
