Amazing Argentina and Futaleufu Rafting Trip!
This is one of the best trips I've ever done anywhere! Stunning emerald green waters nestled in the hills of Patagonia. This is a great choice for adventurous multi-sport travelers with a mix of whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking, biking and horseback riding! We also witnessed the authentic culture through shows and amazing food.

The End of the World: Argentina & Antarctica
Franny and I were lucky enough to spend two weeks exploring Buenos Aires, Colonia, Uruguay, Ushuaia, Argentina and finally the crown jewel, Antarctica. We learned to make our own empanadas in Buenos Aires, drank mate in Colonia and hula hooped and kayaked our way through Antarctica. Our travels were full of delicious food, Argentinian wine, …

Belize Trip - Adventures in Paradise
This spring, my husband and I set off to explore Belize on our custom Adventure's in Paradise Tour. We began by relaxing on the beach in Ambergris. Then we were on to a luxurious stay at Hamanasi Dive Resort to swim with the sea creatures that abound. Finally we ended our Belize tour at Pooks Hill Jungle Lodge with excursions to the ATM Cave and …

Get to know Choquequirao
Little known to the world, this ancient Peruvian city is often referred to as Machu Picchu's sister city. However, we wholeheartedly believe it is a worthy destination on its own. Deemed the "Lost City of the Incas," Machu Picchu is not so nameless anymore with more than one million visitors every year. T

Brian's Cayambe-Coca Trek
I hiked part of the trek on our Ecuador Adventure trip and visited the village of Oyacachi too. I enjoyed staying with my dear friends, Betty and Marcelo and catching up with them. We hiked along mountain ranges and lakes, beautiful greenery and hot springs! And of course, I was very sore for my conference the next day!

Our Alaska Small Ship Adventure
We spent over a week in Alaska going from Sitka to Juneau. Lots of kayaking, icebergs, bears, and so many whales! An incredible group of people aboard ship. They call this a small ship cruise, but it was so much more of an adventure than cruise!

Patagonia - To the end of the world and back
To the "end of the world" and back. My sister and I started the trip with a stay over in Buenos Aires before taking a flight to Ushuaia. Together we hiked and kayaked through Tierra del Fuego. We set foot on Cape Horn and an island inhabited only by penguins. Together, we sailed the Straits of Magellan; we learned about the history of …

3 Reasons to Visit Costa Rica this Summer
Summer's here and it's rainy season in Costa Rica. But while a few rainy afternoons might keep some travelers away, there are plenty of reasons to put a Costa Rica trip on the list of great summer getaways.

Darwin's Islands and Quito Add On
A great trip with highlights being a morning scuba dive off Santa Cruz Island, an exhilarating hike up the Sierra Negra volcano, lots of curious and nonchalant animal/sealife, great company, accommodations and food, and knowledgable guides who accompanied us throughout our islands visit. Adventure Life arranged a last minute guided bus/walking …

Elusive Patagonia
Patagonia. How does one describe an area that is indescribable? It's a land of stark contrasts--jagged snow-capped mountains peaks, pristine lakes, and massive glaciers of mesmerizing beauty, but also a landscape of barren emptiness inhabited only by the incessant Patagonian wind. We called it ''Elusive Patagonia.'' After reading our journal and …

Patagonia and More
As with all good things, there must be ''burdens'' to overcome so that we truly appreciate the good things. After the delayed flight leaving Chicago and having to stay overnight in Miami, finally am airborne and on my way to Buenos Aires, three hours AFTER I was supposed to have arrived! Oh well, such is life. It turns out that there was an …

Belize Travel: Sunscreen and Coral Reef Bleaching
We just received an email from one of our travelers, Mike Jarosick, who returned from a trip to Belize. Sharing our sentiments for responsible travel he wanted to share with fellow Adventure Lifers information he learned regarding the effects sunscreen has on coral-bleaching. This subject is particularly relevant to Belize, which is home to the …

Peru Multisport Adventure Tour
As an adventuresome couple Peru proved to be the perfect home away from home to celebrate our new life together. Living in Colorado drew us to the magnificent Andes and it was a great fit for our love of the outdoors. We spent almost every moment of our visit enjoying the mountains in a variety of ways. Traveling came by way of plane, train, and …

Incredible Adventure – Hiking in the Peruvian Andes
In addition to the stunning scenery, we all thoroughly enjoyed the company of our guide, cook and wrangler, who each did a wonderful job of making our trip so special with their knowledge, excellent local cuisine, and lots of good-humored laughter as we stumbled with our Spanish. This trek was on a grand scale that I had never experienced before - …

7 wonders at a 7 wonder
How can you summarize Cusco, Ollantaytambo, Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu? You can't! The 7 wonders of our trip:1-How'd they build the road to Machu Picchu (MP) and how do they keep them in great shape? They aren't paved and there are many switchbacks and many many buses each day.2-The bus schedule is flawless at MP. Little waiting and they …

Hiking Around Cusco
Join me for a guide's-eye view of hiking around the Cusco region of Peru. Here are a few photos from our the multisport trip including biking around the lake and hiking from Huchuy Cusco down to Lamay. We had a lot of fire on the mountains around Cusco so the air was smoky.
