For our days in the Galapagos Islands, I felt super fortunate to have the opportunity to take my mom aboard the newest luxury ship in the Galagents fleet, the Galaxy Sirius. When we boarded her deck, the ship had two months operating on the water and still had that "new yacht" smell. Sleek and luxurious but also well equipped with brand new zodiacs and adventure equipment, the Sirius was the perfect vessel for us to have as our basecamp for exploration for the next 5 days.
Designed with both comfort and elegance in mind, the Galaxy Sirius featured 9 well-appointed cabins, accommodating up to 18 guests maximum. Each cabin was quiet and calming and featured en suite bathrooms with showers, hair dryers, and even hair straighteners provided. The cabins each had the option for a king or twin beds and their own private balcony. It was the perfect place for my mom and I to unwind with a pina colada, watch the sunset on the horizon and recharge after each day of exploration. One of our favorite parts of each day was sitting on our balcony laughing and recapping the days highlights, before prepping for the following day's adventures.
With an dedicated crew of 8, including our knowledgeable Cruise Director, William, an experienced Captain, the chef team, hospitality crew and the wonderful bartender Ramiro, every detail of our voyage was taken care of. The team was committed to providing personalized service for all 6 of us on board, ensuring that each of us felt at home and that nothing was out of place in our cabins, despite our most valiant and chaotic efforts.
The Galaxy Sirius was not only our mode of transport; it was a luxury experience from embarkation to disembarkation. We were treated to fantastic dining for 3 (well... more like 5) meals each day in the elegant dining room. With all 6 of us guests sitting family style around one table, sharing our experiences and stories of other travels. We had multiple opportunities to enjoy al fresco dinners on the outdoor dining deck, soaking in the stunning sunsets and even spying out black tipped reef sharks swimming in our wake. After a day of adventures, unwinding in the cozy living room with a cocktail or heading to the sun deck, where a hot jacuzzi awaited us was heaven. Perfect for up to six people, the hot tub was larger than most other ships jacuzzis an ideal spot to relax under the stars after a day of exploration.
The experience onboard was further enriched by the constant presence of our naturalist guide, Chris. Typically, because of it's max passenger size, the Sirius will carry two naturalist guides, creating a very in depth experience for all passengers. Since there were only 6 of us on board we had one Naturalist Guide, which still truly made for a primate and tailored experience. These experts bring the wonders of the Galapagos to life, sharing their own insights about the unique wildlife and ecosystems you’ll encounter. All Naturalist Guides are Galapagos Island Natives that have grown up learning the deep history and rich biodiversity of the Islands. Chris shared many anecdotes with us throughout our trip about life growing up in Santa Cruz and how he was led to the life of guiding.
Truly we found that the Galaxy Sirius was more than just a yacht; Whether snorkeling in vibrant marine reserves, hiking volcanic trails, or observing rare species in their natural habitats, we felt that we had experienced the best of the archipelago. For those looking to explore the Galapagos in a setting that combines luxury with adventure, the Galaxy Sirius is the perfect choice. Embrace the opportunity to connect with nature, indulge in premium service, and create unforgettable memories in one of the most enchanting destinations on Earth.
My travel consultant went out of her way to make sure everything went smoothly, everything from the flight reservations to the final booking.

The staff at Adventure Life made planning my family's trip to the Galapagos Islands as easy as possible. They listened to what we were hoping to experience and made thoughtful suggestions about how to accomplish our vacation goals while meeting the needs of travelers ages 17-76! They patiently answered questions and follow up questions in the months leading up to the trip. They helped us trouble shoot and customize the trip in every way possible. The logistics involved in traveling from Boston to the Galapagos are innumerable. The Adventure Life staff helped us arrange every detail and the team they assembled in the Galapagos was tremendous. I have never done a trip this big before and after working with Adventure Life this time--would not hesitate one second in working with them again.
