My mother, son and I went to Antarctica to celebrate my son's 9th birthday and my 40th birthday! We crossed the Drake Passage and then landed on the 7th continent itself! We hiked around Deception Island amongst the many species of penguins and seals. Best birthday celebration ever!
Celebrate your Birthday in Antarctica! This was my suggestion to my 8 year old son Matthew. I have 4 kids and alone time to focus on any of them is at a premium in our busy schedule of kenpo practices, Little League games, and a half dozen clubs. I decided that the only way to offer them undivided attention is to take them away individually- each on a special trip unique to their personalities for some time together. Matthew was turning 9 just a few days after my 40th birthday so I thought Antarctica would be the perfect place to celebrate these special occasions! My mom has always been a huge penguin fan so once we decided on Antarctica, it was a must to bring her along too for the perfect multi-generational adventure!
