Brian's Cayambe-Coca Trek
I hiked part of the trek on our Ecuador Adventure trip and visited the village of Oyacachi too. I enjoyed staying with my dear friends, Betty and Marcelo and catching up with them. We hiked along mountain ranges and lakes, beautiful greenery and hot springs! And of course, I was very sore for my conference the next day!

Our Amazing Trip to the Falkland Islands
With the help of Adventure Life, we planned a last-minute trip to the Falkland Islands last December. We wanted to time our travels with the breeding cycle of the migratory penguins and we definitely succeeded - we saw so many fluffy, chubby baby penguins and were lucky enough to see albatross chicks and baby seals too!

Guatemala
I organized this trip for the AAUW (American Association of University Women) San Juan Branch. Thanks to the economy's personal case of \"swine flu\" only 7 of us took the trip. Guatemala is a beautiful country!

Guatemala Classico Trip
Even though our visit to Guatemala was short, it equated to a lifetime of memories that Jens and I will never forget. We walked through textile markets where we saw beautiful vibrant colors, hiked by lakes and volcanos, and witnessed churches, cathedrals and ruins. It was an awesome trip!

Jens and I visited Panama and Costa Rica! We visited Sarapiqui, where we went on a chocolate tour and walked a suspense bridge, Tortuguero, where we road through the rainforest to get to Turtle Beach Lodge, snorkeled with species of fish in Bocas Del Toro, San Blas and more! What an adventure of Panama and Costa Rica!

Ecuadorian Rainforest Kayaking Adventure
It was a great Ecuadorian rainforest kayaking adventure trip! And we learned: that a large black garbage bag makes a great raincoat in a pinch. That you keep your toes away from streaming ants.To bring extra clothing in small dry bags so that you can go to dinner in something other than your pajamas. . .That you are ALONE when you are alone in the …

Patagonia - To the end of the world and back
To the "end of the world" and back. My sister and I started the trip with a stay over in Buenos Aires before taking a flight to Ushuaia. Together we hiked and kayaked through Tierra del Fuego. We set foot on Cape Horn and an island inhabited only by penguins. Together, we sailed the Straits of Magellan; we learned about the history of …

Latin America Travel: Spanish 101
Spanish a bit rusty? You and me both. In general, Spanish is used throughout Latin America - but you'll definitely encounter dozens of other languages too. On a Belize trip or Guyana tour you'll find English as the official language, with other languages spoken in varying regions. For example, along the coast you're most likely to hear Creole …

Incredible Adventure – Hiking in the Peruvian Andes
In addition to the stunning scenery, we all thoroughly enjoyed the company of our guide, cook and wrangler, who each did a wonderful job of making our trip so special with their knowledge, excellent local cuisine, and lots of good-humored laughter as we stumbled with our Spanish. This trek was on a grand scale that I had never experienced before - …
