Day 1: Arrive Lima

Arrive in Lima on the flight of your choice today. After picking up your luggage and clearing customs, walk across the street to the comfortable and conveniently located Wyndham Costa del Sol Hotel. Settle into your room and rest up for your Peru tour ahead.

Day 2: Fly to Cusco | Walking City Tour | Trek Briefing

An early morning flight brings you to the Inca capital of Cusco where Quechua speaking descendents of the Incas bustle back and forth in the busy plazas and markets. Colonial churches sit atop bases of smooth stonework laid centuries before the arrival of the Conquistadors. The church walls have fallen many times throughout the years, but the Inca walls remain. The morning is yours to explore Cusco's narrow streets and bustling markets.

In the afternoon, you can tour Cusco's traditional markets, talking to the women selling natural medicines and charms for curing heartache and other afflictions. You will visit the Center for Traditional Textiles in Cusco, a local organization committed to preserving the region's weaving traditions. (If visiting the Sacred Valley on Sunday, you will visit their center in Chinchero instead). Watch weavers demonstrate their craft and learn about the history and processes of Peru's most well-known art form.

This evening, Meet your MLP guide and fellow travelers for a general trip briefing and Q&A before heading out on your trekking adventure in the morning.

Location: Cusco
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes

Day 3: Journey Through the Sacred Valley

Begin your day with a scenic hike from Cusco to Sacsayhuaman, and enjoy a guided tour of the ancient Sacsayhuaman and Q’enqo archaeological sites. After the morning tour, hop in a vehicle for a drive to Lake Piuray, where a delicious lunch awaits, showcasing fresh local crops. Spend the afternoon enjoying various activities at the lake, such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or biking. As the day winds down, indulge in a rustic farm-to-table dinner before heading back to your hotel in Cusco in the evening.

Day 4: Ollantaytambo

In the morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before setting off on a picturesque drive from Cusco to Maras. Once you arrive, engage in your chosen morning activity, either biking from Maras to Ollantaytambo or experiencing a thrilling zipline adventure in the Sacred Valley. Following your adventure, head to Ollantaytambo for a satisfying lunch, then delve into a guided exploration of the archaeological site. Afterward, embark on a scenic drive to Huacahuasi, which will take approximately 2 hours, before winding down with dinner and a trip briefing at the lodge in the evening.

Strengthened by the meal, you can then choose another hike, this time a moderate 2.5-hour journey to Yukumarka. Alternatively, you can relax in Jaukani and soak in the tranquility of the village. Finally, a scenic drive brings you back to Huacahuasi, where you can unwind and enjoy dinner at the lodge, reflecting on the day's adventures.

Upon arrival, choose to go on a bike ride to Lamay Lodge for some fresh air and beautiful sights. Relax and unwind at Lamay Lodge by exploring the gardens, soaking in the hot tub, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet. Finally, cap off the day with a delicious dinner at the lodge. Here's an additional activity option you can consider: Hike from Ancasmarca to Totora, a beautiful and easy-to-moderate hike that takes about 4 hours.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
