Day 1: Tarawasi | Chonta | Cusco

  • 1 Lunch
From the hotel, you are going to be transferred to the archaeological center of Tarawasi, believed to have served as an astronomical observatory by the Incas. Next, the adventure continues towards the village of Chonta, nestled at an elevation of 3,400 meters. As the trail is traversed for approximately one and a half hours, a panoramic view of the village of Chonta awaits, with Salkantay and Humantay mountains as the backdrop.

The destination is the Condor viewpoint, where a box lunch will be served. From this vantage point, you will witness a view of the Apurimac Canyon, and you'll have the chance to appreciate the flight of the Andean condor in its natural habitat. The condor, revered as a sacred bird by the Incas, holds the title of the largest gliding bird of prey in the world. With a little luck, you may also spot other birds such as eagles, hawks, and white-tailed deer. Upon visiting and savoring this beautiful trip, you will begin your return trip to the city of Chonta, and then you'll be transferred back to Cusco.
