After exploring Cusco City, the next day we moved out to visit some towns in the Sacred Valley which is located Southeast of Peru. Our first stop was Cinchero (Munaypata Intiqhawarina) where we visited markets filled with colorful Peruvian handicrafts made from local materials such as alpaca wool and llama hide – perfect for souvenirs! We then headed over to Urubamba (Yucay Museo), where we learned about their culture by visiting local museums filled with artifacts from their ancestors who lived hundreds of years ago. After this we headed over to Ollantaytambo Sanctuary, where we had plenty of opportunities for taking pictures thanks to its beautiful terraces framed against lush green hillsides. Our last stop before heading back was Templo del Sol, an archaeological site dating back centuries that is believed by some archaeologists to be related to astronomical events due to its precise alignment between different structures.
