Packing List for People that Like to Just Wing-it

I’m a Pisces in the most extreme way. I go with the flow so much that I often don’t prepare well or at all really, because “Whatever happens, happens,” right? It’s great to be flexible, but just take a minute to consider the following. I recognize this is common sense for most people, but I was just that nonchalant about getting ready for my trip. 

Do you plan to make calls in country? Sure wi-fi is common but I still recommend setting up some kind of travel plan with your carrier to avoid huge out-of-country charges. 

Most smartphones come with a decent camera. You’re traveling somewhere awesome; you’re going to want more than an “okay” camera. I’m not saying you need to upgrade your whole phone just for this trip, but just know you’re going to want to take pictures. I used my companions phone a lot for pictures. And now she’s got a lot of really cool pics on her phone and I have...some.

Bring a charger pack. I wasn’t able to take photos after 5pm bc that’s when my phone died each day. 

Bring extra walking shoes. Even the most comfortable walking shoes will feel dull and cause pain after 8 straight days of walking. Switching it up helps. 

Carry Snacks. Grab some extra fruit or bars at breakfast and just have them on hand. Especially for transfer days because airports and bus stations will always be lacking in food choices. No one likes a hangry traveler. Plus, the alpacas love bananas and it easier to win over these skeptical creatures if you’re carrying their favorite treat. 

Again, this very obvious list, but helpful for people like me. So, if you’re trip planner, here reading this list you have companions who are letting you do all the work, it’s likely they’re not thinking their packing all the way through -  feel free to send this to them, because they might need it.
