The capital of Malta, Valletta, is a treasure trove of architecture and art. The sight of this fortress city immediately astounds the senses. For the pop culture aficionado, Valletta’s scenery was the backdrop for the Streets of Flea Bottom in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. Along the Grand Harbor travelers can capture spectacular views of the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea. As you walk along its limestone streets gazing at the colorful apartments, it is easy to get lost in wanderlust.
Off the coast of Sicily, you find the volcanic Aeolian Islands, the largest of which is Lipari. But do not worry, as the island’s last eruption occurred over 1,000 years ago and the only signs of volcanic activity today are fumaroles and thermal springs. From a place in ancient Greek mythology to UNESCO World Heritage status, the Aeolian Islands and Lipari hold a rich and intriguing history. Seek the ultimate views with an invigorating hike through Monte Rosa. Archaeological excavations within the citadel tell a story dating back to the Neolithic era.
The island of Capri is the gem of the Bay of Naples. In Capri, you can marvel at the whitewashed homes and villas, fragrant lemon trees, and flower-filled courtyards. From the water, visit the Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto), which is only accessible by boat. Once inside the cave, you can marvel at the water's sapphire color caused by the light refraction from the hidden opening in the rock. Also, from the water, see the Arco Naturale on the island's east coast. Dating from the Paleolithic age, the limestone arch is the remains of a collapsed grotto.
Civitavecchia is the main terminal for all cruises heading into Rome or the less-crowded, nearby Tarquinia. From there, a shuttle bus takes you to the Service Center of Largo della Pace where you can embark on adventures through the Eternal City. Rome maintains its position in the world as a powerful influence in religion, politics, and art, as it is well known as the site for intellectual and artistic achievements in the past. From the iconic Roman Coliseum aboveground to the mysterious catacombs of the Capuchin Crypt below ground, the capital of Italy beckons the adventurous to discover its many secrets and stories. The city holds a certain cosmopolitan feel with countless rooftop bars that are a prime location for an evening sunset. For explorations further off the beaten path, Tarquinia offers historic treasures such as the Monterozzi Necropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and an authentic, Italian small-town feel.
From the grandeur of the Leaning Tower of Pisa to the charming canals of La Venezia Nuova (New Venice), which date back to the Medici era, the Italian city of Florence contains much to explore. The port city of Livorno’s colorful building facades rise above the canal waters as a sight to behold. Lucca's long and storied history calls out to curious explorers seeking a mentally stimulating adventure. These iconic Italian cities have cathedrals, art, culture, and food, and Livorno is the hub for making your way to each.
Nice rises from the pebbled coast to lush hills, yet the city's heart is between the old port city and the Aeroport de Côte d’Azur. Enjoy a jaunt on the Promenade des Anglais along the Mediterranean Sea to take it all in. The Old Port, located in Vieux Nice (Old Nice), is a colorful and busy place, with various markets. There discover an ensemble of narrow streets, colorful architecture, and picturesque piazzas. Stretch out on Nice’s recognizable blue lounge chairs on one of its iconic beaches. Some of these private beaches, like the Blue Beach or the Castel Beach, are among the most glamorous beaches on the French Riviera.
Corsica’s capital, Ajaccio, beckons with a leisurely atmosphere that invites in-depth exploration to discover hidden gems. Strolling through a lively market alongside fellow explorers or perhaps even a Gastronomic Guest, you find fresh, local produce, honey, cheese, and spices, all the perfect ingredients for a culinary adventure. Wander down a side street between storefronts and you may find yourself in an open courtyard where typical Corsican cuisine awaits at a local restaurant. History comes alive in the Maison Bonaparte, the birth home of the famous Napoleon Bonaparte, now turned museum. From Ajaccio, a day trip to the Blood Islands invites you and your new companions to explore natural marvels, marine life, and ancient architectural heritage.
Spend the day on the high seas pampering yourself at the spa or enjoying some time on deck. Mingle with your fellow explorers and swap stories of your exploits, making plans for new ones together once you get to shore.
The Mediterranean Island Gozo is one of 21 that make up the archipelago nation of Malta. But it’s perhaps best known as Calypso’s Isle, as described in Homer’s The Odyssey. With scenes of fishing villages, serene bays, and verdant landscapes among rolling hills with small farms, it offers a quaint backdrop for a quieter adventure. But Gozo also offers ancient ruins and historic landmarks like the Ganja Temples, one of the island’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and a Neolithic limestone structure. Near the port of Mgarr is a popular beach for snorkeling and a secluded day of relaxation, Mgarr ix-Xini.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.

Hannah and Nur got the gist of what we wanted our trip to be. They got us in hotels that were located centrally to historic tours. Tours and excursions that were significant, enriching and enjoyable. We had drivers that were on time/reliable. We got from location to location with ease. I would never have been able to plan this myself. I would not have known enough to ask for what we needed. This was above and beyond what I expected. Well done!
