St. Peter's, with its breathtaking Sistine Chapel, is newly restored to its former glory. The Spanish Steps, where all Rome passes by; the Colosseum, where gladiators fought to the death; and the Pantheon, considered to be the most perfect architectural statement of the ages.
Bonifacio's almost land-locked harbor is one of the most dramatic, totally protected harbors. It is a bustling port with excellent seafood restaurants and a modern marina. The ancient citadel town is perched high atop a seemingly impenetrable cliff.
Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, a revitalizing spa, and a peaceful library.
Gracious Georgian buildings that climb the steep hills backing the Moll Ponent. Mahon's heritage also includes the invention of mayonnaise and the first distillation of gin from juniper berries.
Day 5: Palma de Mallorca, Mallorca - Balearic Islands, Spain
Towering over the harbor, Palma's enormous Gothic cathedral is a powerful symbol of the religious fervor that gripped all of Spain shortly after the defeat of the Moors. Built by Jaume I, its vast open nave and soaring Gothic columns have been added to over the centuries. Behind the cathedral, a maze of twisting streets leads to designer boutiques and open-air markets.
Ibiza is a place where people hang out because, except for the medieval walls, you could almost think it was the Mediterranean's version of Key West. But away from the hustle of town, some lovely beaches await.
The city's naval, maritime, and historical museums provide insight into thousands of years this city has been a major port. It's now developing into a vibrant tourist attraction. The deep-water harbor and walled town were used by Phoenicians, Romans, and Moors prior to the Spanish navy. Visit Torres Park and the Castillo de la Concepción for the best views in the city.
The town of Motril is located in the Spanish region of Andalucia, on the Costa Tropical. Nestled at the foothills of the Sierra Lujar mountains, the town's coastal strip includes two main beaches: the busy Playa Poniente and the quieter Playa Granada.
Malaga's fortress palace of the Alcazaba and the Castillo de Gibralfaro are splendid examples of Moorish architecture. But it is in Granada that you can see the most romantic and magnificent expression of the Arabesque style in the glorious Alhambra Palace.
Gibraltar is a British overseas territory and headland on Spain's south coast. It's dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426-meter-high limestone ridge. The Cable Car is one of the ways to the top of the rock and a must-see attraction for all visitors to Gibraltar. The view is spectacular, and you can watch the famous apes of the islands. A lesser-known wildlife attraction are the dolphins leaping in the sparkling waters of Gibraltar Bay. Whole families of dolphins visit the bay, and the chances of seeing them are good.
Tangier was the real model for the famous American film Casablanca, with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. It still retains its faded mongrel charm—not entirely Moroccan, European, or African, but a heady mix of all three.
Cadiz, called 'the cup of silver', is almost African in appearance; its streets are lined with palm trees, and its churches are topped with dome-like cupolas. Take advantage of the optional tours to Seville, the irresistible capital and cultural center of Andalusia, with its colorful and festive lifestyle.

Day 14: Lisbon, Portugal | Disembark
1 Breakfast
Lisbon, the capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of history. Spreading out along the right bank of the Tagus, its downtown, the Baixa, is located in the 18th-century area around Rossio. The Alfama, one of the oldest quarters in Lisboa, still retains much of its original layout since it largely survived the earthquake of 1755.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
I selected Adventure Travel as I was not satisfied with the responsiveness of the agent for the cruise I was trying to book and it had good recommendations. So far, I am quite happy with my agent, Betty, very responsive and accommodating.

There were two best aspects to our trip:
1. The Adventure Life folks and the folks in Athens and Crete who supported our itinerary, guided us, and ran the cooking program were all superb.
2. Everything they all planned for us went without a hitch. When we needed a bit of help, they came through with really good answers.
We became aware of AL from a friend who had an excellent experience in a different location. So did we. We can recommend AL without reservation.

This will be the third trip I have arranged with Adventure Life and I find their customer service and helpfulness to be excellent. Sandra has been very knowledgeable in describing the details of the planned trip as well as the signing up process for the trip. I have and will continue to recommend Adventure Life as the best tour vendor I have had the pleasure to work with. Thank you for your continued excellence.
