EuropaPark

This is a family trip after all! What family trip is complete without a couple requisite visits to amusement parks along the way? Europapark is probably my new favorite anywhere in the world. This park, near the German/ French border, has different themed lands for the countries of Europe- complete with shops, restaurants and of course rides. Needless to say, the kids (and parents) had a blast! It was so fun trying the different foods and seeing how they decorated each place. No, it's not perfect, for example, German 'Greek' food is a poor substitute (only the Germans would add sauerkraut to a gyro!), but it was still really fun, perhaps more fun due to these imperfections.

And, this is Germany after all, land of the fairy tales, so there was also a charming fairytale land.

My kids loved the Italian food and wanted to eat there every day. They were disappointed, and some were whining, when I insisted we try something new for dinner and took them to Lichtenstein. I'm not sure what Lichtenstein really has for culinary specialties, but here at Europapark, it's the home to Food Loop, a restaurant that serves your food via roller coaster, even a loop de loop! You sit down at a table with numbered seats and order from an Ipad. Your food is served from above, strapped into it's own little roller coaster cart, and delivered directly to your table on rails that come down to the center of the table. Even the bottled beverages (and wine no less) are delivered that way!
