Zadar, like many of the coastal towns in Croatia, is a wonderful mix of Roman, Venetian, French and Austrian influence. Old Town is surrounded by stone city walls and the beautiful church of St. Donatus, Croatia's biggest cathedral, was built from stones taken from the Roman forum.
We started our day with a unique Tuk Tuk tour around the outskirts of the city, driving along the coastline out of town. Unfortunately our guide wasn't able to join the trip so it was mostly a pleasant ride without much commentary. Returning to the port, we walked over to the impressive Sea Organ, an instrument built into the pier that allows the sea waves to play music and send sounds up thru holes in the pier.
From here our guide was finally able to join and we walked into Old Town to enjoy the architecture and try the local specialty, Maraschino Liquor, made from the local cherries. It's exceptionally sweet but felt like a 'must try' given its 500 year history in the region.
Third trip we have book with Adventure Life. Like the last two, we have had a quick response to all inquires

(1) great information on the website and throughout all the "materials." (2) Jane Packer is great: knowledgeable, responsive, takes a personal interest and tone, seems to care about the customer as a person not a sale.
