Stay along the banks of the Shishamba River overlooking a lagoon that attracts a variety of wildlife during the dry season. This seasonally open camp offers raised platforms and canvas-walled tents. A spacious open-air viewing deck allows for under-the-stars dining and wildlife viewing to the water all day. This area attracts elephant, puku, impala, warthog, zebra, crocodile, and hartebeest. Predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena also frequent the area and the birdlife is prolific along the water's edge.
Four upscale tents offer en-suite bath facilities and private views of the plains. Each tent gives a unique view of the camp from the private veranda raised 3m above the ground. Two tents offer two twin beds and two offer king beds. A tall fig tree provides shade to the main camp lounge that overlooks the sandy beach along the river's edge. Guided walks depart during the cooler part of the morning to avoid the heat of the day, and staying at camp allows for multiple wildlife sightings as well.
This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
