Ultramarine as a Perfect Polar Platform

The Ultramarine is described as an expedition-style cruise ship, designed for polar and remote destinations.  To me, it’s the absolute most luxury option at the “active adventure” end of the polar cruise spectrum.  There are certainly more luxurious ships in the polar fleet - ships with private butlers and white-glove service - but none of those ships can offer the adventurous attitude, the creative adventure options, and the active excursions that the Ultramarine offers on a regular basis.

It is clear the Ultramarine was built for polar travel, with the well-conceived mud room and zodiac access areas, the multiple outdoor deck spaces, the giant windows in the forward-facing lounge, and the sheer volume of staff dedicated to a constantly-active itinerary.  But it is also clear this ship was designed for everyone’s comfort, with the number of balcony cabins available, the multiple levels of dining space, the spacious public lounge areas, the wellness areas (gym, spa, sauna, etc), and the great food.

I honestly recommend the Ultramarine wholeheartedly for polar cruises - both Arctic and Antarctic.  It’s a bit of a “Goldilocks” sort of combination, where the level of luxury doesn’t get in the way of the active and adventurous itinerary… and vice versa.
