If you have heard of Guyana before, likely it’s because of the rice and diverse wildlife you can find here. Unlike some other countries that comprise the Amazon basin, the Guyana jungle is still largely untouched by oil interests. Maybe a coincidence, but it is also the case that the biggest animals in the Amazon are also to be found in this place with a minimal amount of human influence. If you want to get truly off the beaten path and really experience something wild, wonderful, and very nearly private - than this is the place for you!
The Guyana jungle feels nearly pristine - which for many is the primary attraction of of coming here - meaning you will have the chance to encounter hundreds of species and with very little competition from other travelers. However, with that remoteness, comes with it... well... remoteness.
Traveling through the interior of Guyana will provide you with unparalleled wildlife viewing opportunities and the feeling of true seclusion. Along with that, it is important to note, is the difficult access of mainstream services. All of the lodges in the interior will be solar-powered. You will have running water - and occasionally a fabulous open-air shower! - but with cold water exclusively.
Most of the accommodations are palapa-style, with thatch roofs (happy homes for all manner of creatures) and windows without screens. You will have mosquito nets, and most accommodations also provide bug spray, but you will not find spa services here. This is not to say that the people you meet, the food you eat, the days you spend wont be 5-star experiences - but it does mean that you will have to anticipate some level of rusticity to achieve that truly off-the-beaten-path trip.
We went to the Patagonia on the Chile side and Perito Moreno in El Calafate, Argentina. Eric of San Diego handled our trip with expertise. The preparation went smoothly, despite some changes on our part with scheduling conflicts. He offered great advice which made us feel at ease with all decisions on the trip. It was truly a great experience.

We had a great experience- they were very helpful in trip planning and making sure we got to do all the activities and see the places we wanted. There were some things we couldn't do/see due to the time of year being the rainy/low season and they steered us away from those. We had never been to Costa Rica before and it gave us a good overview of this lovely country.

My travel consultant went out of her way to make sure everything went smoothly, everything from the flight reservations to the final booking.
