Day 4 started early, as we were greeted by our local tour guide as we docked in Crete, the largest of the Greek islands and the fifth biggest one in the Mediterranean Sea. We got on a van and headed to the archeological site of Knossos, of the Minoan civilization. This was a lovely walk with our tour guide exploring the ruins and history of the Palace. Before heading back to Rethymnon, we were treated by a hearty lunch at a local taverna. We had so much fun and food and ‘ouzo” (the local spirit drink), there was not a single person awake on the ride back to the ship. It was definitely “siesta” time.
Then we had time to enjoy a bit of time by the nearby beach, and then get ready for a night with the locals: Crete is a popular vacation destination among Greeks and it was lovely to walk around the picturesque tavernas and the Venetian Harbor.

I selected Adventure Travel as I was not satisfied with the responsiveness of the agent for the cruise I was trying to book and it had good recommendations. So far, I am quite happy with my agent, Betty, very responsive and accommodating.
