Day 1: Nice, France | Embark

Nice, nestled along the azure shores of the French Riviera, captivates visitors with its enchanting blend of Mediterranean charm and cosmopolitan allure. This picturesque city, known for its stunning Promenade des Anglais, boasts a dazzling coastline, with pebble beaches and clear turquoise waters. Stroll through the charming Old Town (Vieux Nice) to discover a labyrinth of narrow, cobblestone streets lined with vibrant markets, quaint cafes, and colorful facades. Nice is a cultural hub as well, with world-class museums like the Marc Chagall National Museum and the Matisse Museum, showcasing an impressive collection of art. Whether savoring delectable Provençal cuisine at a seaside bistro, enjoying the annual Carnival of Nice, or simply basking in the Mediterranean sun, Nice embodies the essence of the French Riviera's effortless elegance and allure.

Day 2: At Sea

Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, a revitalizing spa (Royal Clipper only), and a peaceful library.

Day 3: Mahon, Menorca

Gracious Georgian buildings that climb the steep hills backing the Moll Ponent. Mahon's heritage also includes the invention of mayonnaise and the first distillation of gin from juniper berries.

Day 4: Palma de Mallorca

Towering over the harbor, Palma's enormous Gothic Cathedral is a powerful symbol of the religious fervor that gripped all of Spain shortly after the defeat of the Moors. Built by Jaume I, its vast open nave, and soaring Gothic columns have been added over the centuries. Behind the Cathedral, a maze of twisting streets leads to designer boutiques and open-air markets.

Day 5: Ibiza

Ibiza is a place where people hang out because, except for the medieval walls, you could almost think it was the Med's version of Key West. But away from the hustle of town, some lovely beaches await.

Day 6: Cartagena, Spain

The city's naval, maritime and historical museums provide insight into the 2,000 years this city has been a major port. It's now developing into a vibrant tourist attraction. The deep water harbor and walled town were used by Phoenicians, Romans and Moors prior to the Spanish navy. Visit Torres Park and the Castillo de la Concepción for the best views in the city.

Day 7: Motril, Spain

Motril, on Spain's southern coast, is a vibrant port city steeped in history, culture and Mediterranean charm. It is a popular seaside destination offering a unique combination of beautiful beaches, historic monuments and culinary delights. Motril is an excellent base for exploring the city of Granada, the villages of the Alpujarras or the rum distillery and tropical fruit plantation.

Day 8: Malaga, Spain

Malaga's fortress palace of the Alcazaba and the Castillo de Gibralfaro are splendid examples of Moorish architecture. But it is in Granada that you can see the most romantic and magnificent expression of the Arabesque style in the glorious Alhambra Palace.

Day 9: Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain's south coast. It's dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge. The Cable Car is one of the ways to the Top of the Rock and a must-see attraction for all visitors to Gibraltar. The view is spectacular and you can watch the island's famous apes. A lesser-known wildlife attraction is the dolphins leaping in the sparkling waters of Gibraltar Bay. Whole families of dolphins visit the bay and the chances of seeing them are good.

Day 10: Tangier, Morocco

Tangier was the real model for the famous American film "Casablanca" with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. It still retains its faded mongrel charm - not entirely Moroccan, European or African but a heady mix of all three.

Day 11: Cadiz

Cadiz called 'the cup of silver' is almost African in appearance, its streets are lined with palm trees, its churches topped with dome-like cupolas. Take advantage of our optional tours to Seville, the irresistible capital and cultural centre of Andalusia with its colourful and festive lifestyle.

Day 12: At Sea

Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, a revitalizing spa (Royal Clipper only), and a peaceful library.

Day 13: Safi, Morocco

Safi is an industrial center and thriving port. Most tourists use it a base to take excursions or explore the old town. Here you may be tempted to buy pottery typical of this part of the region.

Day 14: At Sea

Day 15: Arracife, Canary Islands

Arrecife is the diverse and interesting capital of Lanzarote. It has a striking golden sand beach which is sheltered by a reef and a great selection of bars and restaurants. Worth a visit is The Castillo de San Gabriel in the centre with it's impressive drawbridge that was constructed in 1599 to help defend against pirate attacks. The gorgeous little La Recova market is tucked away and there is a selection of artisan craft shops together with a fresh food market on the weekdays.

Day 16: Puerto del Rosario, Canary Islands

Puerto del Rosario is the capital of Fuerteventura and is known for its whitewashed houses and open-air artworks, including giant snail sculptures along the harbor promenade. From here you can easily explore the islands attractions such as Islote de Lobos Nature Reserve. For the energetic then windsurfing is a popular choice as Fuerteventura is one of the best places in the world to do sail sports.

Day 17: Las Palmas | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
This 15th-century city with a semitropical colonial ambiance is a favorite stopping place for yachts crossing the Atlantic. Visit the Casa Colon, named for the great explorer, and do some exploring of your own by adventuring to the volcanic crater of Caldera de Bandama. Its lunar landscape and exotic vegetation take you to a new world.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
