First, visit Kampong Glam, which is known as Singapore’s Muslim Quarter. The neighborhood hosts the Sultan’s Mosque, named after Sultan Hussain Shah and named a national monument in 1975. Kampong Glam was a trading district with lots of shophouses. Many shophouses have new tenants, such as design and IT firms, art galleries, crafts and curiosity shops, food caterers, cafes, bars, and restaurants. They blend in with traditional businesses like textile and carpet shops, blacksmiths, and shops selling religious items used by Muslims. Haji Lane, located in the heart of Kampong Glam, also hosts street art and hip boutiques.
Continue the tour by car to Little India, with a fascinating past that stretches back to the 19th century. The most interesting sites in the district are the Abdul Gafoor Mosque, the Temple of Thousand Lights, and the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, built by Indian pioneers in the 19th century. At the end of the tour, return transfer to the hotel.
