The capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of history. Spreading out along the right bank of the Tagus, its downtown, the Baixa, is located in the 18th-century area around Rossio. The Alfama, one of the oldest quarters in Lisboa, still retains much of its original layout since it largely survived the earthquake of 1755.
Portimão is the largest city in the western Algarve, and was traditionally a center for sardine fishing and processing. It makes a great base from which to explore the entire western Algarve. Two of the more popular trips are Lagos and Silves. Lagos was the center for Portugal’s 14th-century age of exploration and Silves served as the Algarve region's ancient capital and so the tourist attractions here reflect its rich and extensive history.

Today, Safi is mainly modern, home to a fishing port and diversified industries. The old town which lies within the city is still very much alive. Here you may be tempted to buy pottery typical of this part of the region.

Funchal is a modern, cosmopolitan city, known for it's many top restaurants, warm year round climate and natural beauty. Facing the blue Atlantic with a backdrop of dramatic mountains, it is extremely lush. The approach to Funchal harbour is well documented as one of the two most spectacular in the world, Rio de Janeiro being the other one. Zona Velha, an old fishers’ neighbourhood in East Funchal has recently been transformed into a hip quarter packed with bars, galleries, shops and restaurants and is the place to head at nightfall.

Day 17: Bridgetown, Barbados | Disembark
1 Breakfast
On the wild and rugged east coast of Barbados, the isolated beaches are the color of sunrise, the red sands having blown all the way across the Atlantic from the Sahara. The easternmost island of the Windwards, and indeed, of the entire Caribbean, reaches out to Africa and the Old World, as if not quite part of the New. Bridgetown, Barbados, is an interesting town full of contrasts. George Washington actually slept here! Trafalgar Square reminds you that the laidback, rum- and fun-loving island's British-influenced heritage includes revered traditions like cricket and high tea. Disembark after breakfast and continue your independent trip back home.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
Adventure Life went above and beyond to care for all our travel needs!!! From the flights, to the accommodations, the tours, the tour guides, the transfers, the scheduling, everything was top notch and our minds were blown away!! It was so nice to be able to travel to another country that we’d never been to before and have every detail laid out for us!! No stress, no searching where to go, what to do, fighting with tourist crowds, getting rental cars, etc…..,it was all done for us, very organized and worth every penny!! We will definitely use Adventure Life for our future travel plans!!! A+++

Claudia and Ghezzel are extremely professional, courteous, patient and knowledgeable. We booked a cruise with Claudia but within 24 hrs we wanted to switch to another cruise, fortunately with the same company. The transition was executed flawlessly including reserving the cabins we wanted. Ghezzel was working in the background and picked up when Claudia left for
vacation. There was no difference in the great service. I'd give the team 10 stars if it was possible.

Adventure Life couldn’t have provided a better travel experience, from the start of planning through the entire trip itself. The agents were very helpful and quickly responsive to our questions and needs. We were well taken care of and the trip was smooth sailing, both literally and figuratively. The cruise line, the hotel, and the extra excursions that Adventure Life provided were superb and without flaws. The price was reasonable when we compared the planned trip to what was offered by others. We would highly recommend both Adventure Life and Emerald Cruise Line to anyone interested in an enjoyable, relaxing, and informative travel experience.
