Viking was founded in 1997 with the vision that travel could be more destination-focused and culturally immersive. With an operational office in Basel, Switzerland, Viking provides itineraries for curious travelers seeking to explore the best of each destination. Each journey includes a shore excursion in every port and an onboard and onshore enrichment program that provides deep immersion in the destination through performances of music and art, cooking demonstrations, informative port talks, and carefully selected guest lecturers.
All guests must be 18 years old on or before the day they are scheduled to embark on their cruise; we do not maintain facilities or services on board for younger individuals.
Is there Internet access on board the ship? Are there computers, or should I bring my laptop?
All ships sailing our Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt and the Mississippi itineraries offer free Wi-Fi, while our China ship offers complimentary Internet access. You may use your personal device or one of the ship’s computers. Our connection relies on a cellular or satellite terminal—the best possible solution for river cruising. Due to the nature of data bandwidth and latency, as well as potential interruptions in satellite signals based on terrain and weather, you may experience slower online connections than you are accustomed to at home. In order to ensure fair usage for all, we reserve the right to limit heavy-bandwidth applications, downloads or software upgrades so that all our guests have access to Wi-Fi. We suggest that guests limit large uploads/downloads and live streaming. Please download your content prior to your cruise, as bandwidth will affect your service and cannot be guaranteed. We would be pleased to help you with your device settings once you are on board. We hope you will understand that we will do our very best to provide you with an enjoyable online experience, and remember you will likely be able to access standard Wi-Fi and data roaming services on shore in most towns and cities you visit. Please be aware that the Internet is censored in China, and select sites, such as Google (including Gmail), popular social media sites and Yahoo Mail, are typically blocked except in Hong Kong.
On our Mekong ship, you may use one of the public computers on board to access the Internet; however, please be aware that Internet access across all of Southeast Asia is very limited and Wi-Fi is not available.

When can I book my dining reservations?
Dining reservations are not needed on board your ship.
When is disembarkation?
All staterooms must be vacated by 8:00 AM. Guests can disembark as soon as the ship has docked. Transfer times will vary depending on flights. Guests can wait on their ship or explore the port until their transportation to the airport is ready; their luggage will be looked after on board.
When is embarkation?
Embarkation generally begins at 11:00 AM and access to staterooms is guaranteed by 3:00 PM. Should you arrive before your stateroom is available and wish to explore your port of call, you can leave your luggage on the ship where we will gladly look after it. Please keep in mind, if you do go exploring, you need to be back on board the ship at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. A light Welcome Buffet is served from 11:00 AM.
Embarkation on our Mississippi itineraries begins at 11:00 AM for all categories. See below for stateroom availability times:
11:00 AM: Explorer Suite, Terrace Suite, Penthouse Junior Suite
1:00 PM: Penthouse Veranda
2:00 PM: French Balcony, Deluxe Veranda
3:00 PM: Veranda
Should you arrive before your stateroom is available and wish to explore your port of call, please drop off your luggage shoreside where we will gladly look after it. Please keep in mind that, if you do go exploring, you will need to be back on board the ship at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

Creating a checklist was very beneficial and meeting objectives on certain dates helped as well (to keep my trip organized). The Adventure Travel personnel helped keep me on track which is why my trip was so successful. Communication from both travel agencies (AT/MT) was vital.

This is an amazing company to work with. I generally do not use tour companies as I am more of an independent traveller so I was slightly reticent. They were fantastic from the start - 10/10 - from lining up a phone call to discuss requirements, then their ongoing communication in the lead up to the tour and during it (thank you, Franny and Phen). They also explored cost-effective options (eg group transfers). The tour was in Patagonia so Adventure Life organised a pickup from the El Calafate airport to the El Chalten accommodation, two day hikes with a private guide and then to the El Calafate accommodation. A tour coordinator came to the hotel to explain, using the maps, what was involved in each day tour and what should be expected, and patiently answered all questions. The tour guide Marcos was excellent - very professional, knowledgable, communicative and at all times felt very safe with his navigational skills (important in the Patagonian wilderness). On the second day I forgot to take hiking poles so Marcos kindly gave me his. I honestly wouldn't have changed a thing and would happily recommend and book through them again.

Adventure Life has been great throughout my planning process for our up and coming Galapagos cruise. Kevin Moore, in particular, was very helpful in assisting me in making choices and providing me with options. He was also very patient, as I worked through figuring out what I really wanted in this vacation.
