If you're searching for a serene escape where the rhythm of the ocean meets the charm of a beautiful artsy town, Los Colibris Casitas in Todos Santos is the perfect hideaway. Nestled along the coast—not directly on the beach, but just a short walk away—this truly hidden gem provided us a great basecamp in Todos Santos to duck away from the bustle of the town and enjoy the sounds of the ocean and the excitement of spotting migrating whales from the comfort of our own terrace (even without binoculars!).
Reaching Los Colibris Casitas was a pretty straightforward trip from Los Cabos Airport, located approximately 1.5 hours away via the new highway. Be prepared for tolls along the way, and remember to bring some cash for a smooth trip. Although transfers can be arranged, I highly recommend renting a car. The property is situated just a mile out of town but it isn’t very walkable or easy to "pop in and out", so having your own transportation will definitely enhance your experience and provide flexibility for exploring the beautiful area...and access all the tasty restaurants!
Los Colibris Casitas offers a great range of lodging options depending on what is needed. With nine charming casitas and a larger suite designed for groups, there's a perfect option for every type of traveler. Being just the two of us, we had a Casita up on the hill, with a beautiful view of the water. Each casita has it's own name and personality and is decorated slightly differently, blending traditional Mexican aesthetics with modern comforts. I can honestly say the casita had the hottest shower we had on the entire trip, which can be hard to find! We spent most of our time off on adventures, but the time we had at the casita was mostly spent on our roof terrace, enjoying the breeze off the ocean while watching whale spouts offshore and sipping on icy margaritas! Although the casitas aren't directly on the beach, a convenient walkway leads you to an expansive stretch of coastline. With 70 miles of beautiful beach to explore, we had plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sun and sand, and ending each day with a sunset beach walk is nothing to complain about. The property also has a pool and hot tub that can be enjoyed if feeling less adventurous!
One of the highlights of staying at Los Colibris Casitas is the on-site restaurant. Here, breakfast is a special treat, with dishes cooked to order to start your day off right. For lunch and dinner, you'll want to venture into Todos Santos, where you can explore local culinary delights. The town is home to a variety of excellent restaurants that showcase the region’s vibrant food scene, from tacos to ceviche and many other seafood specialties! We did not skip a meal on this trip.
Also, great to note that the Casitas can help with arranging guided adventures all over Todos Santos, so come with an adventurous spirit, your bathing suit and your hiking shoes. We managed to pack in quite a lot in this little area. Check out some of our adventures in the next posts!
Creating a checklist was very beneficial and meeting objectives on certain dates helped as well (to keep my trip organized). The Adventure Travel personnel helped keep me on track which is why my trip was so successful. Communication from both travel agencies (AT/MT) was vital.

This is an amazing company to work with. I generally do not use tour companies as I am more of an independent traveller so I was slightly reticent. They were fantastic from the start - 10/10 - from lining up a phone call to discuss requirements, then their ongoing communication in the lead up to the tour and during it (thank you, Franny and Phen). They also explored cost-effective options (eg group transfers). The tour was in Patagonia so Adventure Life organised a pickup from the El Calafate airport to the El Chalten accommodation, two day hikes with a private guide and then to the El Calafate accommodation. A tour coordinator came to the hotel to explain, using the maps, what was involved in each day tour and what should be expected, and patiently answered all questions. The tour guide Marcos was excellent - very professional, knowledgable, communicative and at all times felt very safe with his navigational skills (important in the Patagonian wilderness). On the second day I forgot to take hiking poles so Marcos kindly gave me his. I honestly wouldn't have changed a thing and would happily recommend and book through them again.

Adventure Life has been great throughout my planning process for our up and coming Galapagos cruise. Kevin Moore, in particular, was very helpful in assisting me in making choices and providing me with options. He was also very patient, as I worked through figuring out what I really wanted in this vacation.
