This route is known for heavy traffic. Descend from the highlands via the steep slope of Mandraka, where the forest corridor begins, representing the eco-region of eastern Madagascar. Stop to visit the butterfly farm along the way towards Andasabi. Plan on arriving in Andasibe in the afternoon where you will check into your hotel and settle in after the drive. This evening, enjoy a guided night walk in the Mitsinjo Community Reserve to try to observe nocturnal species, such as the wide variety of frogs, chameleons, and two nocturnal lemur species this forest is known for.

Day 3: Perinet National Park & Mitsinjo Community Reserve
Today, head out on foot to Perinet National Park with a local guide to explore this protected area, which is mainly covered in primary forests unique to eastern Madagascar. The rainforest here is home to many rare and endemic species, including the Indri indri, the largest species of lemur in Madagascar. Other species found here include the Grey Bamboo lemur (Hapalemur griseus), Woolly lemur (Avahi laniger), and more. The flora is also notable, with several species of medicinal plants that your guide will point out during your visit.
In the afternoon, enjoy a return visit to the Mitsinjo Community Reserve, in the daylight this time, where you'll discover flora and fauna unique to this region, and if lucky, have the opportunity to observe groups of Indri moving about the forests.
After breakfast today, continue eastward along the Ravinala road toward Brickaville. The road's name is derived from the Ravinala Palm that lines the way, also known as the Traveler's Tree in Madagascar. From Brickaville, a rough road leads on to Manambato on the shore of Rasoabe Lake. A boat ride follows, taking you along the Canal des Pangalanes to Ankany'ny Nofy, your final destination for the day. You arrive at Ankanin’ny Nofy, nestled between Lake Rasoabe and the Pangalanes Canal, in the afternoon today. Take the afternoon to settle in and stretch your legs by exploring the grounds on foot, spotting pitcher plants and many varieties of palms that this area is known for.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your day exploring. The morning is dedicated to exploring the Palmarium Reserve and encountering the unique wildlife of Madagascar. The Palmarium reserve is a common place to spot lemurs at close range. The reserve contains around a dozen species of lemur, which are free-ranging and will provide excellent photo opportunities for the keen observer. The afternoon is free for relaxation on the terrace of your bungalow or a walk in the surrounding area. The hotel staff can point out nearby trails and villages to visit independently. In the evening, prepare for a night excursion to experience an unforgettable encounter with one of the island's most fascinating creatures: the nocturnal and elusive Aye-aye.
Today is a big day of travel. After breakfast, take a boat back to the village of Manambato. From here, you will be transferred back toward Antananarivo, passing through Andasibe along the way. Continue the journey to Antananarivo, arriving at the hotel in the late afternoon to rest after the long journey and prepare for your departure home tomorrow.

I selected Adventure Travel as I was not satisfied with the responsiveness of the agent for the cruise I was trying to book and it had good recommendations. So far, I am quite happy with my agent, Betty, very responsive and accommodating.
