Day 1: Arrive in Luang Prabang

Upon arrival, get your Laos visa if you haven't done so before your trip. Then, go through Immigration and Customs. Afterward, go to the arrival area to meet your private guide, who can take you to your accommodation for check-in.

Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure.

Optional: VIP Fast-track and Lao visa fee USD80 per person. Welcome gift: USD20 per person

Day 2: Luang Prabang | Kuang Si Waterfall

After breakfast, you can continue exploring this historic and charming World Heritage Town. Begin your journey by visiting the most popular temple, Wat Xieng Thong. This 500-year-old temple is an exquisite example of the classic Luang Prabang style.

Next, explore the small side streets, back alleys, and temples. This city seems designed for slow travel, and a morning walking tour lets you soak up the ambiance and discover the hidden charms of Luang Prabang. Your guide can help you interact with the locals and ask questions about their daily lives.

Continue walking up the peninsula, stopping at temples and other sites. Visit the National Museum, once the Royal Palace, which still houses relics from Laos' royal past. Nearby is Phousi Mountain. It's said that if you don't climb the 328 steps, you haven't truly visited the city. Climb the hill for remarkable views of the area.

Before lunch, visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, a museum dedicated to the ethnic minorities of Laos.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Luang Prabang.

After lunch, head south of town to the Kuang Si Waterfall by songthaew. On the way, stop at the Living Crafts Centre for a short visit to see how textiles are made and meet the weavers who keep these traditions alive.

At the falls, crystal-clear waters cascade into beautiful turquoise pools. Bring a bathing suit if you want to swim! Also, visit the nearby Sunbear Refuge to learn about the poaching of these endangered animals.

On the way back to town, stop at the Buffalo Dairy Farm, known for its sustainable farming practices. It's a great way to end your day, offering both fun and educational experiences for all ages. This includes a guided tour of the farm, learning how they work with the local community, feeding and bathing buffalo, a milking demonstration, and feeding chickens, pigs, and rabbits. You can even bottle-feed calves. Relax in the café and enjoy the ‘cake of the day’ with ice cream and tea or coffee.

At the end of the day, return to your accommodation and spend the evening at your leisure.

Day 3: Almsgiving | Home Cooking Class | Pak Ou Caves

Early in the morning, the town's monastery bells toll at dawn and golden lines of monks emerge to receive their morning rice from the townspeople.

Wake up early to respectfully witness this sacred ritual typical of old Laos—long lines of barefoot monks weaving through the streets on their alms rounds. It takes place in a village outside of town where few tourists go. You'll have the chance to see the almsgiving in its traditional form and be provided with alms to give to the monks.

You are encouraged to take photographs only if it does not interfere with this highly revered ritual. Afterward, visit the Morning Market to see a variety of meats, vegetables, and spices that the locals use in their cooking.

Return to your hotel for breakfast.

Spend the day exploring Lao food, from market visits to home cooking, snack making, and whiskey tasting.

Your guide picks you up and takes you to a local fresh market, where you'll meet your chef and teacher for the day, Mrs. Noy. After learning about local produce, you'll board a boat to cross the Mekong River. There, you are welcomed by friendly villagers and Noy's family. Instead of a professional kitchen, enjoy a simple, private cooking lesson in their home, learning to make local specialties.

After enjoying lunch in the local village, continue by boat upstream to visit the Pak Ou Caves. As your eyes adjust to the dim light, see over 3,000 serene Buddha images, some adorned with semiprecious stones. The fact that these images remain undisturbed in this remote location is a testament to the people's devotion.

On the return boat trip to Luang Prabang, stop at several local villages. One of these is Ban Sang Khong, a wonderful silk-weaving village where ancient techniques are used to create some of Asia's most prized textiles. Some villagers also produce Sa Paper. You'll also visit other villages where local delicacies like river weed snacks and rice crackers are made.

At the end of the day, while floating gently down the river, enjoy a Lao rice whiskey tasting as you slowly approach Luang Prabang.
