Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo

Welcome to Japan! After arriving at the airport, your driver will meet you in the arrival area and direct you to your pre-reserved airport private car, which will take you directly to your hotel in Tokyo. After you have settled in, spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 2: Tokyo | Tsukiji Fish Market | Hamarikyu Gardens | TeamLab Planets

Visit the Tsukiji Fish Market first thing in the morning for a firsthand taste of Tokyo's culinary culture. Marvel at the lively auctions before delighting your tastebuds with a huge array of fresh, delectable seafood.

With your appetites suitably sated, continue to the serene oasis of Hamarikyu Gardens. These former Imperial gardens offer a unique blend of traditional Japanese gardens and modern urban views, with skyscrapers soaring in the background. Despite being located in the heart of Tokyo, the gardens are always surprisingly tranquil and are home to two beautiful teahouses, which make for the perfect spots for a little break after your walk. Finally, head down to the Tokyo Bay Area for a truly unforgettable sensory experience at TeamLab Planets, which you will likely relive in your dreams later that night!

Day 3: Tokyo Free Day

Today will be a free day to explore the city at your leisure! You can visit the trendy district of Harajuku, then enjoy the tranquility of the nearby Meiji Jingu Shrine before finally taking in the nightlife in Shibuya and crossing the famous Shibuya Scramble! Spend the day exploring as you wish.

Day 4: Hakone | Hot Springs | Owakudani | Open-Air Museum

Get away from Tokyo's bustling streets and travel to Hakone, a tranquil haven. Your guide will pick you up in the morning and take you in a private car to a traditional ryokan, where you can relax in the famous hot springs.

During your stay, enjoy a hands-on Karakuri box (yosegi), learning the art of crafting beautiful puzzle boxes. Afterward, ride the Hakone ropeway to Owakudani and see the stunning views of Mount Fuji and the volcanic hot springs. Finish the day with a visit to the Hakone Open-Air Museum, where world-class sculptures can be seen in a picturesque mountain setting. A perfect blend of culture and nature awaits!

Day 5: Travel to Kyoto | Day at Leisure

After a restful stay at your Ryokan in Hakone, check out in the morning. A private car will transfer you to Odawara Station and board the bullet train (Shinkansen) bound for Kyoto. Relax and enjoy the scenic views as you speed toward the cultural heart of Japan.

Upon arrival in Kyoto, check in and settle at your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure, giving you time to explore the city at your own pace, whether by strolling through local markets, visiting nearby temples, or simply enjoying the peaceful ambiance of your surroundings.

Day 6: Kyoto | Arashiyama Bamboo Grove | Golden Pavilion | Nijo Castle

After breakfast, start your day with a visit to the iconic Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Walk through the towering bamboo stalks, experiencing the tranquil and mystical atmosphere of one of Kyoto's most scenic spots. Next, visit the famous Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), a stunning Zen temple covered in gold leaf and surrounded by beautiful ponds. Continue to Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its beautiful gardens and impressive architecture, once home to the shogun.

After returning to your hotel, the afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace. A visit to Kiyomizu-dera is highly encouraged. Along the way, walk through a charming street lined with traditional shops, making it the perfect spot to pick up some souvenirs.

Day 7: Kyoto Free Day

Take your time exploring Kyoto and the surrounding area today. One recommendation is to visit the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine, known for its iconic red torii gates that stretch up the mountain. It’s a must-see for its stunning pathways and spiritual atmosphere. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider traveling further south to Nara, a historic city filled with cultural treasures. In Nara Park, encounter the famous free-roaming deer, considered sacred messengers of the gods. Todai-ji Temple is nearby, and it houses one of the biggest bronze statues of Buddha in the world, known as the Great Buddha. It’s a perfect day to enjoy the natural beauty and historical significance of Japan.

Day 8: Return Home

  • 1 Breakfast
On your last day in Kyoto, embrace the city’s timeless beauty while enjoying breakfast before bidding farewell to Kyoto’s captivating charm and heading to the airport on your next journey.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
