Day 1: Civitavecchia (Rome) | Embark

Civitavecchia serves as the main port for Rome, connecting travelers to destinations across the Mediterranean. Located about 70 kilometers from the Italian capital and 62 kilometers from Fiumicino Airport, this bustling seaport is a key departure point for cruises and ferries. With a history dating back to ancient times, Civitavecchia remains an essential hub for maritime travel, offering easy access to Rome and beyond.

Day 2: At sea

Sail in style aboard a Star Clippers ship, where traditional charm meets modern comfort. Feel the wind in the sails as you glide between stunning destinations. Relax on deck, take a dip in the pool, or climb the rigging for a true sailing experience. Explore inviting lounges, a serene library, and, on Royal Clipper, a revitalizing spa. Enjoy the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation at sea.

Day 3: Lipari, Aeolian Islands, Italy | Stromboli, Italy

The Aeolian archipelago is made up of 7 islands of volcanic origin, of which only Stromboli and Vulcano are still active volcanoes. The main island is Lipari, which offers travelers arriving by boat a beautiful panorama of its Acropolis, presided over by the Cathedral. Its marina is bustling with shops, boutiques and stalls... it's an island where life is good.

Sail around Stromboli with the backdrop of its famous active volcano which had its last major eruption in April 2019.

Day 4: Messina, Sicily, Italy

Messina was a major transport hub for centuries and remains a gateway to the island of Sicily. Messina is home to one of Sicilian’s finest cathedrals which has the largest and most complex mechanical and astronomical clock of the world. Make sure you try the lemon granita (shaved ice), or the famous mezza con panna al caffé, a half glass of coffee-flavored granita and cream, and don't hesitate to take an excursion to discover the Theatre of Taormina.

Day 5: Amalfi, Italy

During the Middle Ages, Amalfi was a powerful republic of 70,000 people, rivaling nearby Ravello. For a sense of Amalfi's medieval glory, wander through the grand Duomo, containing the remains of St. Andrew. Amalfi is a magnificent coastal town offering an enchanting blend of natural beauty, rich history, and Mediterranean charm.

Day 6: Sorrento, Italy

Sorrento, whose city walls rise straight out of the sea, is located on the lovely Amalfi Coast and overlooks the Bay of Naples. Optional excursions might include taking a trip back in history to Pompeii, where the ashen remains of ancient Romans lie frozen in time.

Day 7: Ponza, Pontine Islands, Italy

The pastel houses of Ponza Town rise in neat terraced rows from the busy harbour where sleekly groomed yachts and ramshackle fishing boats moor side by side. Happily, there are few tourists here, so it's a delight to wander through the unspoiled town.

Day 8: Civitavecchia (Rome) | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
Disembark after breakfast and continue your independent trip back home.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
