An overnight at Sænautasel may be the most primitive and rustic point of your time in East Iceland, unless of course you are tent camping as well! Spend a unique night here in the old turf houses and experience life as it used to be in East Iceland. There is no electricity, the water is outside, and the toilets are 100m away. No wifi and little telephone contact means this may very well be one of the most isolated experiences in your lifetime. The hut offers three comfortable beds that can sleep four people in a cozy atmosphere. Make it a night you will not easily forget! Opt to fish nearby for your meal tonight, and you can heat your food with gas and firewood using the fully equipped 'kitchen' inside the hut. The home is made of turf and wood, and access is gained through a common area that is a shed/barn. The owner's kittens and dog are on site and sheep are also easy to spot. The owner's restaurant is also located just across the way if you prefer to eat out.
The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.
Adventure Life seems to be an honest company and has been quite helpful in the planning process. Good about answering questions.
