Demonstration of traditional Mayan instrumentsAll too soon our trip came to an end, and it was time for an early-morning departure. This time, the desk clerk was awake, and our boxed breakfast was waiting. A quick shuttle courtesy of the ever-prompt ViaVenture driver brought us to the airport and our flight to Guatemala City. Knowing that we would have a very long wait for our connecting flights home, I came prepared with a most interesting book, The Long Night of the White Chickens, by the Guatemalan-American author Francisco Goldman. Getting through security was a somewhat frustrating, and mildly amusing (depending on one's mood) experience, as the security personnel did not seem to be especially well trained. They looked askance at my electric razor, but did let that pass. My small travel sewing kit, a small pair of tweezers, and a small container (under 3 ounces) of sun block, however, are now in some Guatemalan limbo. Once aboard, our flights home were uneventful and we are now happily reunited with our cats and blessed with fond memories of a wonderful trip to Guatemala.
The Adventure Life staff, for me it's Franny, always listens to what I say about what kind of travel my wife and I want and expect. It never goes wrong. The motto at AL seems to be I will get back to you right away if not sooner. Requested changes and special requests are encouraged and acted on ASAP.

The trip planners at Adventure Life were very helpful and always replied to my inquiries right away. The excursions, accomodations, and local guides were excellent

Be sure to sign up for all the tours, otherwise you will be sitting on the boat since not all stops are moored at a dock. Some are anchored.

There were two best aspects to our trip:
1. The Adventure Life folks and the folks in Athens and Crete who supported our itinerary, guided us, and ran the cooking program were all superb.
2. Everything they all planned for us went without a hitch. When we needed a bit of help, they came through with really good answers.
We became aware of AL from a friend who had an excellent experience in a different location. So did we. We can recommend AL without reservation.
