Day 1: Marina Zeas | Embark

  • 1 Dinner
Embarkation starts, and you are expected to be onboard MS Galileo in the afternoon. The Safety Demonstration takes place, and the boat departs shortly after. Leaving Piraeus behind while enjoying a get-together on the outside decks, the boat passes by the Athenian Riviera and the unique site of Cape Sounio, one of Greece’s most popular places to admire for two reasons: First is to marvel at the sanctuary of God Poseidon, and second is to enjoy the most beautiful sunset of Athens that you should not miss. During your welcome dinner on board, you relax and unwind, getting to know some of your fellow travelers.

Day 2: Patmos | Lipsi

Galileo arrives at Patmos island in the morning, and you wander around the picturesque port of Skala. If you want to create an unforgettable memory of this island that attracts many discerning travelers every summer, consider joining the optional shore excursion to St John’s Monastery and Chora.

The ship departs for a short drive to Chora and the imposing Monastery of St. John the Theologian, a unique creation that integrates monastic values within a fortification closure. This structure, complete with towers and crenellations, evolves in response to changing political and economic circumstances for over 900 years. The monastery is home to a remarkable collection of manuscripts, icons, and liturgical artwork and objects.

After exploring the monastery, visit Chora, Patmos’ main town, one of the best-preserved and oldest in the Aegean. Whitewashed houses, mansions with antique furniture and embroideries, narrow streets, and lace-like alleys are an absolute must-see. Then return to the main port of Patmos, Skala, for a short orientation walk and some free time before embarking on the boat.

During the onboard lunch, the boat leaves Patmos for the next island experience.

Late afternoon, Galileo arrives at Lipsi island, an insider tip away from the mainstream. For all guests, there is a curated visit to a small, yet beautiful winery situated on a hillside overlooking the port. Sample local wines and cheeses while enjoying a panoramic view of Lipsi and the Aegean sea. In the evening, enjoy an authentic dinner in the Chora. Embarkation occurs after dinner as Galileo leaves Lipsi for the next island exploration.

Day 3: Amorgos

You reach Aegiali Bay in Amorgos in the morning to swim in crystal clear blue and turquoise waters, and unspoiled sandy beaches invite you to uncover them and indulge yourself. The boat leaves Aegiali at noon. Enjoy a light lunch and relax before reaching the main port of Amorgos, Katapola. You may either explore the area on your own or join the optional shore excursion.

First, you cross the island on your way to the Monastery of Hozoviotissa, perhaps the most unusual monastery in the Aegean and one of the most significant sights on Amorgos. Impossibly tall and narrow, it seems painted onto the sheer rock face at first sight, but actually, it’s slotted into it. Climb uphill on an easy pace to reach the main 1,000-year-old church of the Virgin Mary. The view is the best in Amorgos. Now continue to Chora, hidden from pirates’ eyes, reflecting their Byzantine and Venetian past. Abandoned windmills, the shops, and cafes at Platystenos, Chora is a veritable balcony over the Aegean. After a guided walk, return to Katapola and to the ship.

In the evening, have fun during the Greek night on board, starting with the Ouzo-Mezes appetizer. Early morning, the boat leaves for the next exciting destination.

Day 4: Ios | Santorini

Galileo reaches Ios Island for today’s swimming stop at one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with clear blue waters and fine yellow sand. Around noon, the journey sets sail for the next legendary destination, Santorini. Light lunch on board is included. Upon arrival in Santorini, you may either spend the rest of the day on your own or join the optional shore excursion.

Wander around the narrow, cobbled streets of Fira, the capital of Santorini, and continue to the most picturesque village of the island, Oia, famous all over the world for its sunset and magical views over the Caldera that you will love. Take as many photos as possible to share with your friends when you are back home, but most of all take the time to feel Oia’s energy and ambiance. Visit a winery nestled between vines on the ancient plain of Oia for a pure wine tasting experience! This optional tour ends in Fira where you may spend the rest of the evening at your own leisure.

Enjoy the Santorini specialties like Fava or Tomato fritters in the restaurant of your own choice. Return to the boat at around 10:30 pm as it sets sail before midnight for the next island.

Day 5: Milos

This morning, enjoy the most beautiful beach in Greece, the famous Kleftiko in Milos. This swimming stop will stay in your memories forever as it is a true experience! Afterwards, indulge in a culinary experience with Delmonico's signature lunch. While enjoying the meal, the boat sails to the port of Adamas, the port of Milos. You may either explore on your own or book the optional shore excursion.

The tour goes first to the Ancient Theater of Milos, located on the east side of Milos, looking down to the largest natural port of the Mediterranean. Pass by the area where the statue Venus of Milos was discovered and now graces the museum of Louvre in Paris, and visit the Catacombs, the second most remarkable Pre-Christian monuments worldwide, following those of Rome. The next stop is in the capital of Plaka: Learn about the history and traditional life of the island, as well as walk around the narrow streets of the village with its numerous little shops.

The port town Adamas and the Capital town Plaka will offer great restaurants and tavernas for your dinner out this evening. Galileo leaves Milos around midnight for the next Greek discovery.

Day 6: Monemvasia

After breakfast, you arrive at the Peloponnese peninsula, specifically at the rock of Monemvasia, featuring a medieval castle town carved into it. Today, you experience a cultural and traditional immersion at Liotrivi estate, situated among vast olive groves a short drive from the port. Tour the olive grove, familiarize yourself with traditional olive tree cultivation, visit the old olive mill-museum, and learn the traditional method of producing extra virgin olive oil.

Taste various extra virgin olive oils and other types of edible olives produced at the estate to grasp the distinct characteristics of each - the quality of olives and olive oil. A traditional buffet-style lunch awaits in the beautiful surroundings of the estate. Afterward, return to the boat for some free time to unwind and prepare for an evening walk to the castle in the late afternoon.

Sample the excellent local wines and Peloponnesian cuisine during your dinner out. The next morning, depart early for the next destination, Hydra.

Day 7: Hydra

In the morning, Galileo arrives at the beautiful beach of Kyparissi, Greece's best-kept secret. The village remains unspoiled, considering its challenging accessibility. This swimming stop ingrains itself in your heart! A light lunch on board is included, allowing time for relaxation before reaching the stunning island of Hydra in the afternoon.

Upon arriving on Hydra, you immediately sense the change of pace. The main port exudes cosmopolitan elegance, showcasing its 17th-century mansions, captains' houses, old churches, wells, and marble-covered alleyways fanning out everywhere. Hydra has perennially been a favored retreat for jet setters and rock stars such as Aristotle Onassis, Maria Callas, Peter Ustinov, Leonard Cohen, Eric Clapton, and The Rolling Stones. The island has also attracted famous artistic luminaries like Picasso, Chagall, and Miller.

After some free time, the return to the boat awaits for the Captain’s Cocktail and dinner, inspired by a glorious alliance – the authentic Greek cuisine and the legendary Delmonico’s dishes!

Day 8: Piraeus | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
The boat arrives at Marina Zeas around 1 am. Afterward, you savor a leisurely breakfast on board and then proceed to prepare to disembark in the morning.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
