Weather Surprise

We landed in Quito at five in the afternoon on December 5, and as soon as we exited immigration, customs, and duty-free, we found our guide waiting for us, standing on the right side of the arrivals hall, holding an Adventure Life sign. We were astonished to discover that locating our guide at the airport was so simple. When passengers asked us where to find their guide upon their arrival, we initially found it difficult to explain where to direct them; however, we now understand that the process is straightforward.
And we arrived at Quito Airport! See Daniel, our guide, clearly visible holding a sign there at the right side of the exit door.

On our way to the car park, we passed through the MedicalVIP clinic, where all our travelers used to have their covid tests taken when it was still required to enter Ecuador and their home country.

The cool wind greeted us as soon as we stepped outside. You can tell that we did not come sufficiently equipped for the weather in Quito. Because it is on the equator, we assumed that the weather would be warm. Unfortunately, we did not conduct sufficient research or we didn't even ask. We had our packing list, but we were not prepared for the weather to be around 52°F. We instantly regretted not bringing a sweatshirt because it was windy and drizzling when we arrived. Our guide informed us that the city is located 2,800 meters above sea level, which explains why the weather is how it is. However, this turned out to be a pleasant surprise, and we were thankful that we didn't have to deal with hot weather.

Our guide is Daniel, who accompanied us on our 3-day adventure in the mainland. We finally experienced first-hand that Ecuador has more to offer aside from the world-famous Galapagos Islands. Because of this, we were thrilled to explore the mainland and discover everything we could squeeze in for a short time. Three days were short and tiring, but the experience was worth it!
