Punta Pitt and Cerro Brujo - San Cristobal Island plus Kicker Rock

On our fourth day in the Galapagos, we started the day in Punta Pitt, where we stayed for the morning. While we were docked, we had the incredible opportunity to see a group of pilot whales swimming near our ship. This was indeed a fantastic sight for all of us.

Mai and I came to the conclusion that we should not participate in the excursion that was scheduled for today’s morning. Oswaldo had warned us that it would be a rather challenging hike on rocks, and we know that we are not experienced hikers. So we just stayed on the boat and used the time to take pictures of the different parts of the ship.

I would also like to mention here that we are truly thankful for Dramamine and Paracetamol because they proved to be reliable travel companions for us from the very first to the final day of our cruise. Our seasickness lasted the entire trip, although it was particularly bad from the first to the fourth day. There were times when we had to sail while eating to get to our next destination on time. Those were the occasions when I felt the worst since I could not fully eat and felt like I was about to throw up.

Back to our itinerary, we went to Cerro Brujo in the afternoon.

We had a dingy ride along the place, where we got a glimpse of the Kicker Rock, which was not too far away.

And this was our first time kayaking, hence the pictures.

And here is a photo of us with a mother sea lion feeding her baby when we finally landed. Cerro Brujo has a stunning stretch of white sand beach.

As soon as we boarded the ship again late in the afternoon, we set sail toward Kicker Rock, a remnant of a volcanic cone that got its name from its shoe-like appearance. We arrived in time to watch the sun go down. The view is absolutely stunning!
