Cormorant Point and Post Office Bay - Floreana Island

On our 7th day, we were at Cormorant Point in the morning. We hiked for a few minutes to reach this lagoon where we expected to see flamingos, but we didn't see one, probably because it was a bit dry.

Here is our picture from one of the viewpoint on the left side of the lagoon where there was water, but still no flamingos can be seen.

Then we continued our trail and arrived at this very fine white sand beach, called Flour Beach, where we saw some turtles and sting rays not far from the coast.

We also found sea lion skeletons on the beach, and these were arranged by one of our co-travelers, who is an orthopedic doctor. She arranged them from the head to the tail bones.

Just before we rode our dinghy back to the boat, we witnessed this lava heron chasing a Sally lightfoot crab for food. When we left, it was still not finished chasing the poor crab. It was very persistent.

After lunch on the ship, we headed to Post Office Bay. We found a barrel there containing postcards. We browsed through some of them and also dropped our own. The process they have here so the letters will arrive to the addressees is that: when you come here, you collect some that are addressed to a place near you, and then you deliver the letters yourself, but sadly there was none addressed to the Philippines, so we didn't bring any with us. Mai sent her postcard to her husband, and he was able to receive it before February 2023. Woah, amazing!

We also spotted a bunch of Pacific green sea turtles like this one, some are swimming with their heads above the water.

This was our last night on the boat. We requested Oswaldo and the entire crew to dress up in their uniforms and meet us for a drink and farewell before we said our goodbyes. We appreciate all the assistance and care they have given us during our entire stay at the Monserrat. Everyone is very kind and mindful of all the travelers' needs. They made our once-in-a lifetime trip to the Galapagos truly a special one! Thank you, team!
