Day 1: Baltra | Embark | Dragon Hill

Land on Baltra Island and proceed through immigration and customs. Meet your naturalist guide from the Monserrat Yacht, who will lead you to the vessel and prepare you for your first adventure. Sail toward Dragon Hill to begin your introduction to the Galapagos. Unwind, swim, or snorkel in the area’s clear waters.

Take a guided walk from the beach to a hypersaline lagoon, a known spot for observing pink flamingos, pintail ducks, stilts, and other birds. Continue through a rare Scalesia forest—home to one of the few remaining populations of this unique tree species, found only in the Galapagos. After the hike, gear up to snorkel along the rocky shoreline. Watch for green sea turtles, rays, and reef sharks as you explore beneath the surface.
Activities: Hiking, Snorkeling

Day 2: Buccanner Cove | Egas Port, Santiago Island

On Santiago Island, you encounter evidence of past human activity, yet its wildlife thrives. Observe marine iguanas, sea lions, fur seals, and both land and sea turtles as you explore. Visit Buccaneer Cove to view towering cliff formations. In the afternoon, travel to Egas Port for a look at a salt crater, a dark sand beach, and tidal pools. Board a panga or zodiac and steer through high cliffs and rocky formations. Watch for sea lions on the beach and birds nesting in the cove. After the ride, enter the water to snorkel alongside sea lions and fur seals.
Activities: Panga Ride, Snorkeling, Stand Up Paddleboard, Kayak

Explore the shoreline at Puerto Egas (James Bay) to spot numerous shore birds and reptiles among the abundant wildlife. Grab a snorkel and dive off the beach to discover the underwater world. Look for rays, turtles, and reef sharks. Then, inspect the tidal pools, where marine iguanas and Sally Lightfoot crabs gather.
Activities: Hiking, Snorkeling

Day 3: Vicente Roca Point | Espinosa Point

Today you will visit the most western site of the Galapagos Islands, Espinoza Point in Fernandina Island. This island is also one the most pristine on the archipelago as no foreign species have been introduced. You will visit Vicente Roca Point, on Isabela Island, famous for its rich underwater sea life thanks to its location on the Bolivar Channel.

Vicente Roca Point has great deep-water snorkeling at one of the richest marine havens on Earth (Bolivar Channel). Vicente Roca Point is renowned for its Galapagos green turtles, which are very numerous on the bay. Although the spot is known for its high concentration of green turtles, sharks, and rays can also be observed when underwater visibility is good. Take a dinghy ride along the coast to observe a great diversity of sea and coastal birds; including nazca and blue-footed boobies, noddies, brown pelicans, penguins, and flightless cormorants.
Activities: Panga Ride, Snorkeling

Espinosa Point on Fernandina Island is one of the most pristine islands in the world, with none of man’s introduced species to date. From here you can see the island of Isabela across the Bolívar Channel, an area that boasts some of the highest diversity of endemic sea fauna in the Galapagos. Fernandina is the youngest of the Galapagos Islands and a visitor favorite.

When landing, check out the tidal pools where there is an abundance of sea life, including small fish and mollusks. If lucky, a sea turtle or ray may be trapped in the pools. A little further ahead you will pass through some marine iguana burrows and sea lion colonies. The trail continues to where several flightless cormorants have their nests. This remarkable bird is only found in the western Galapagos, and experts estimate that there may only be a few hundred individuals in total. After the exciting hike, you experience one of the best snorkeling sites on the archipelago. Marine iguanas, Galapagos penguins, and sea turtles are some of the species inhabiting this site.
Activities: Hiking, Panga Ride, Snorkeling

Day 4: Urbina Bay | Tagus Cove, Isabela Island

After a long journey from the central part of the Galapagos, you will arrive at the pristine and remote West of the archipelago. Visits today are Urbina Bay and Tagus Cove on the west of Isabela Island, where you will have your first encounters with flightless cormorants, penguins, giant tortoises beautiful landscapes, and amazing snorkeling opportunities.

Urbina Bay is a fascinating visitor site that came to be as the shallow sea bottom uplifted in 1954 showing a large coral reef sticking up above sea level. Because of this, Urbina Bay is one of the newest features in the Galapagos. This visitor site is located west of Isabela and provides spectacular views of the Alcedo volcano. The long trail starts on the beach where a wet landing is made. In this location, you will likely see wild Galapagos Giant Tortoises and Galapagos Land Iguanas. As the trail circles back towards the shoreline, you'll come across colonies of the unique Galapagos Flightless Cormorant which lost its ability to fly. This is also a great spot for snorkeling, as you can come close to a Galapagos Penguin Colony and see Galapagos Marine Iguanas feeding underwater.
Activities: Hiking, Snorkeling

Tagus Cove is located on the Northwestern coast of Isabela. It is a historical site visited by Charles Darwin in 1835, where graffiti has been carved into the rock walls by visitors over the past centuries. This spot has been frequented by whalers and pirates since the 1800s that used the area as anchorage. The name of the site dates back to 1814 when it was visited by a British ship, The Tagus, which had anchored there in search of giant tortoises to be used as food supply on the boat.

Here, you will admire a variety of seabirds, such as blue-footed booby, brown noddy, terns, flightless cormorant, and Galapagos penguins depending on the season. Occasionally you might see woodpecker finches, the Galapagos hawk, the yellow warbler, or a large-billed flycatcher. After a dry landing, you can climb up the trail to visit Darwin's Lake. The lake is located on the slopes of Darwin Volcano and is, surprisingly, a saltwater lake above sea level. The naturalist guide will tell you what are the different scientific theories for this occurrence. Meanwhile, while snorkeling, there are chances to see sharks, turtles, and sea stars. You may also see various different types of colorful fish.
Activities: Hiking, Panga Ride, Snorkeling, Stand Up Paddleboard, Kayak

Day 5: Black Turtle Cove | Santa Cruz Island Highlands

Explore the mangroves by panga to find rich marine wildlife between the fresh and salt waters. Keep an eye out for manta rays and sea turtles in this tranquil ecosystem. Whitetip reef sharks can also be seen gliding by.
Activities: Panga Ride

Explore the highlands of Santa Cruz, home to wild Galápagos giant tortoises. Walk through natural lava tunnels stretching over half a mile. Scan the dark interior for roosting barn owls and observe the island’s volcanic geology up close.
Activities: Hike

Day 6: Chinese Hat | Sullivan Bay

Walk along Chinese Hat’s volcanic landscape and relax on its white coral sand beach. Scan the shoreline for marine iguanas and nesting seabirds. Enter the water directly from the beach to snorkel with sea lions, schools of tropical fish, and possibly Galápagos penguins. Watch for marine iguanas feeding underwater.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling, Stand Up Paddleboard, Kayak

Hike across a well-preserved Pahoehoe lava field at Sullivan Bay. Examine unique volcanic textures and spot pioneer plants, lava lizards, and shorebirds like oystercatchers and pelicans along the coast. After the hike, snorkel from the beach. Look for reef sharks, sea turtles, rays, and sea lions gliding through the shallow waters.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling

Day 7: North Seymour Island | Santa Fe Island

The morning starts with a visit to North Seymour Island, a spectacular showcase of the Galapagos Islands' diverse wildlife. This fairly flat island is home to a thriving population of blue-footed boobies and frigate birds. The trail will walk you through a forest of low, bushy vegetation, where you'll have the opportunity to witness the fascinating courtship dance of the blue-footed boobies. The island's coastline also lets you observe sea lions and marine iguanas basking in the sun. The large frigate bird colonies are a sight, especially when the males expand their bright red throat pouches to attract mates. This is an ideal spot for birdwatching and photography. Whitetip reef sharks, colorful fish, rays, sea lions, and sea turtles inhabit the waters of North Seymour, making it one of the best snorkeling sites in the Galapagos.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling

This Island is known for its picturesque bay and turquoise waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The island hosts a large amount of land iguanas unique to Santa Fe. Watching these magnificent creatures as you walk through the giant prickly pear cactus forest will make a unique experience. The island's calm and clear waters are ideal for spotting marine life, including sea turtles, rays, and colorful schools of fish. Santa Fe also offers a chance to see the Galapagos hawk and various endemic finches. This day offers a combination of terrestrial and marine activities as you will also do kayaking and panga rides, showcasing the diverse landscapes and wildlife the Galapagos Islands are famous for.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling, Stand Up Paddleboard, Kayak

Day 8: Pitt Point | Witch Hill, San Cristobal Island

Enjoy amazing wildlife watching and interesting geological formations on this fascinating expedition. Arrive at a quiet cove on the eastern tip of San Cristobal to explore Punta Pitt. Made up of volcanic tuff substrate, it's the only site in the Galápagos where it's possible to see three species of boobies and two species of frigatebirds. Snorkel around Punta Pitt Island and spot schools of fish swimming below. On the shore admire the nesting birds and sun-bathing sea lions.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling

Cerro Brujo is a breathtaking white sand beach on San Cristobal Island's northern coast. This beach was one of the first sites visited by Charles Darwin. It's an attractive spot for walking and enjoying the landscape, with its powdery white sand and turquoise waters. The area is home to a large sea lion colony, and the nearby lagoon often hosts several bird species, including pelicans and blue-footed boobies. The clear waters also make it an ideal spot for snorkeling, where you can encounter rich marine life.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling, Stand Up Paddleboard, Kayak

Day 9: Tijiretas Hill | Lobos Island, San Cristobal Island

Tijeretas Hill is a tourist attraction on San Cristobal Island, offering visitors a spectacular panoramic view and the opportunity to enjoy the rich marine life that surrounds the area. The name “Tijeretas” refers to the frigate birds that inhabit the region, also known as earwigs. It is one of the only places where you can watch the two species of frigate birds nesting in the same colony.
Activities: Hike

In the afternoon, travel by panga to Lobos Island, where sea lions swim and rest along the rocky shore. Walk along the island’s short trail and ride a panga along the coast. Watch for nesting sea birds and a small colony of blue-footed boobies. Spot both Galapagos sea lions and fur seals resting or moving through the shallows. Snorkel in clear waters with sea lions and sea turtles. Observe marine life up close in this shallow, protected channel.
Activities: Hiking, Panga Ride, Snorkeling

Day 10: Gardner Bay | Suarez Point, Española Island

Arrive in the morning and spend time exploring Gardner Bay. Walk the beach and snorkel in turquoise waters filled with marine life. After lunch, continue to Punta Suarez, a top site for observing nesting seabirds, including the seasonal waved albatross.

Start at a long white-sand beach where sea lions rest and seabirds circle overhead. Watch for young sea lions playing in the surf. Scan the shallows for tropical fish such as yellow-tailed surgeonfish, king angelfish, and bump-head parrotfish. Snorkel at Tortuga Rock to see large schools of colorful fish. Search for white-tipped reef sharks along the sandy bottom, and swim with curious sea lions in clear, calm water.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling, Standup Paddleboard, Kayak

Step onto a rocky landing filled with sea lions. Hike inland to observe a variety of nesting seabirds. During nesting season, spot the waved albatross. Follow the path to ocean cliffs where birds ride the wind and marine iguanas warm on black lava rocks.
Activities: Hike

Day 11: Cormorant Point | Post Office Bay, Floreana Island

Land at Punta Cormorant on Floreana. Guided walks to observe the bird and wildlife and learn about the natural history. Snorkeling excursion at Champion Islet. Visit Post Office Bay.

Visit Punta Cormorant, the only landing site on Floreana Island, and discover two amazingly different beaches: one with green sand, colored by olivine crystals, and another with white sand particles known as 'Flour Beach'. Spend the afternoon observing flamingos and other shore birds feeding in the lagoon. Spot penguins and marine iguanas at the water’s edge, and explore the lava tubes with the Galapagos CEO.

Champion Islet: Jump on in and get up close and personal with the playful sea lion colony that resides in the waters off this tiny island. Keep an eye out for sea turtles, rays, and colorful fish swimming by. There can be currents in this area, this activity should be done by strong swimmers only.
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Snorkeling

Visit Post Office Bay and learn about its unique history. In the late 18th century, English whaling vessels placed a barrel here to be used as a post office. Today, the box is used mainly by tourists, who may drop off and pick up unstamped letters to be carried to far destinations. Continue the tradition – leave a letter and take one to deliver (be sure it makes it to the correct location).
Activities: Hike, Panga Ride, Standup Paddleboard, Snorkeling

Day 12: Charles Darwin Station | Disembark | Baltra

  • 1 Breakfast
Disembark in Puerto Ayora and visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to see the giant Galapagos tortoises.

Visit Fausto Llerena Breeding Center a great place to observe many species of tortoises and land iguanas in captivity. Brought back from the brink of extinction, see the famous Galápagos tortoise up close – a corral houses adult tortoises, and a nursery cares for the young until around age three when their shells have
hardened. This area also houses the Charles Darwin Research Station, a scientific organization initiated in 1964, which works to preserve the Galápagos' ecosystem through the conservation efforts of scientists, researchers, and volunteers. While the offices themselves are not open to visitors, the research station provides a study location for international scientists and environmental education for the local community.
