Let me tell you, 10 days in France is not enough time to eat all of the delicious foods and sample all of the amazing wines. But I sure tried my best to eat everything, sample every cheese, sip all the wines and stop at all of the Boulangeries (French Bakeries)
The trip would not have been complete without daily
pain au chocolat and morning espresso, either from the Boulangerie or dropped off at our cabin door by our lovely butler Coco. There’s just something about the pastries in France that is incomparable, flaky and doughy all at the same time!
During our pre-cruise time in Paris we made sure to explore the side streets and wander into little restaurants along the way. One of my favorite meals was enjoying the traditional
Galettes from Brittany, a region in France. Traditionally
galettes are made with buckwheat flour and served with savory fillings, almost resembling what many know as a crepe.
From the
galettes to the pate, burrata, meats and hard cheeses, there was almost no time to get hungry. I was lucky enough to have one meal with some French friends and enjoy a few bottles of spectacular wine and a lovely evening of sampling these foods.
Once on board every meal was lovely, with a variety of options, some unique interpretations and ingenious combinations created by our wonderful chef Andre. As you can see in most photos the presentation was impeccable, snapping a photo before digging in was always tricky.
The most enjoyable part of our food and beverage experience was the “Shopping with the Chef” excursion. A small group of us joined Chef Andre at a local market to sample various French delicacies, and got to admire the freshness of the produce, meats, and seafood. Aside from learning about the variety of specialty foods that are French staples it was lovely to be a part of the local routine as people came in and out doing their weekend shopping.
