Launched in 2017, the Emerald Radiance is a small cruise ship specially designed by Emerald Waterways for Portugal trips on the winding Douro River. The 112-capacity Radiance is the smallest vessel on Emerald’s fleet, giving passengers a more intimate cruise experience while sailing through the Douro Valley wine region.
 
Although it is a modest 89 meters, Emerald Radiance packs impressive features. Deluxe facilities like the pool and wellness center create a hotel-style atmosphere onboard, while a crew-to-guest ratio of 1:3 guarantees personalized and efficient service at all times.

Staterooms & Suites

New to the Emerald fleet are Emerald Radiance’s two Riverview Suites. Set at the ship’s rear on the Horizon Deck, these stunning suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows opening to a private balcony. Guests can open the full-length windows completely to transform the suite into an open-air space boasting unspoiled views of the surroundings.
 
Other accommodations on the Emerald Radiance cruise ship include the Stateroom, Panorama Balcony Suite, and the extra-luxurious Owner’s One-Bedroom Suite.
 
All feature contemporary décor, windows, plush beddings, and individual climate control, while every option except the Stateroom has its own balcony.

Amenities

Purpose-built to make the most of Portugal’s sunny climes, Emerald Radiance features a beautiful open-air Sun Deck atop the ship. Take a dip in the Serenity Pool on the Sky Deck, or grab a bite on the alfresco Terrace against the picturesque backdrop of Douro’s terraced fields.
 
Other facilities on the Emerald Radiance cruise ship include the Navigation Bridge, Sky Barbecue, Walking Track, Hair Salon, Wellness Area, and Fitness Area. An elevator keeps all decks easy to access.

Dining

Onboard cuisine is a nice mix of classic favorites and Portuguese dishes. During lunch and dinner, complimentary wine, beer, and soft drinks are served.
 
Passengers typically sit down for meals at Reflections Restaurant, but some enjoy eating alfresco at the Sky Deck’s Terrace, where they can watch the sights roll by. Horizon Bar & Lounge is a chic spot for cocktails at the end of the day.
 
Most people dress casually on the Radiance ship, although some opt for sleeker clothing during the welcome and farewell get-togethers.
