Laguna Lodge is located on a narrow strip of land with the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Tortuguero Lagoon on the other. The eco-lodge has 15 acres of spacious gardens full of trees and exotic plants that shelter a variety of wildlife. An abundance of birds in the area provide ample opportunity for birdwatching on your Costa Rica tour.
Tortuguero is the most important nesting site in the Western Hemisphere for Green sea turtles. Three other species of sea turtles also nest here: leatherbacks, hawksbills, and loggerheads. Tortuguero National Park is known as Costa Rica's "little Amazon" for its natural system of canals and navigable lagoons of great scenic beauty. These form the habitat for seven species of river turtles, endangered manatees, mammals such as howler, white-faced capuchin and spider monkeys, numerous reptiles, a wide range of crustaceans, and 30 species of freshwater fish.
