Mom and I stayed in two different hotels in San Jose. Our first night was at Rincon de Valle. As soon as we arrived, disheveled from a long plane ride with close to zero sleep, they greeted us with pasties, coffee, and fresh juice. Rincon is a lovely hotel in the middle of San Jose close to a huge park. It had a beautiful layout with parts of the hotel open to the sky. The small infinity spa was my favorite. The first night after enjoying an awesome meal at the hotel’s restaurant, Etnic, my mom and I relaxed in that spa and enjoyed our first night of Pura Vida vacation. The room was quiet, clean, and had all of the necessary accommodations. We had a safe, hair dryer (my mom’s favorite), and toiletries. The complimentary breakfast the next morning consisted of – you guessed it – rice, beans, fruit, eggs, and coffee. I could eat that every morning.
The airport hotel, Holiday Inn Express, was our home for the last night. It was a very “Americanized” hotel, but super comfortable for the last evening before our long flights home. There were restaurants close by including Rostipollos – a common franchise in San Jose. Mom and I ate there on our last night and enjoyed the delicious chicken. The room was very comfortable and we tried to get a good night of sleep before leaving early the next morning. We woke up, enjoyed a quick breakfast and took the free shuttle to the airport.

We had a great experience- they were very helpful in trip planning and making sure we got to do all the activities and see the places we wanted. There were some things we couldn't do/see due to the time of year being the rainy/low season and they steered us away from those. We had never been to Costa Rica before and it gave us a good overview of this lovely country.
