Day 1: Embark | Golfo Dulce

Your expedition leader will meet you at Marina Bahía Golfito, and after a short walk, board the expedition yacht M/Y Kontiki Wayra. Take your first boat ride this afternoon and try to spot dolphins on the way. The captain and crew will greet you warmly, with your concierge handling the welcome briefing and cabin assignment. Head to the sundeck to enjoy a stunning sunset. After your welcome dinner, participate in an evening safety and expedition briefing.

Day 2: Golfo Dulce

Start your day with a visit to the rural community of Alto Laguna, immersing yourself in the heart of Costa Rican culture. Dive into the Theobroma Cocoa Experience, where you'll learn the fascinating process of transforming raw cacao into chocolate while understanding its cultural and historical significance. Engage with local families, witnessing firsthand the traditions and customs of rural life.

In the afternoon, return to the ship and dive into a range of water activities at the oceanic club. Enjoy the thrill of sliding into the ocean, take a kayak expedition through the mangroves, or explore the waters on a seaboard. For a slower pace, paddle along the coastline on a stand-up paddleboard. Cap off the day with the magical sight of bioluminescence, a stunning natural phenomenon that lights up the waters at night.

Day 3: Drake Bay

After breakfast, disembark in Drake Bay and head into Corcovado National Park. This hike takes you deep into one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet, where the ancient rainforest and waterfalls are alive with activity. Spot the scarlet macaws overhead and spider monkeys swinging through the trees. Watch for tapirs moving quietly below and feel the unseen presence of jaguars as you explore this wild ecosystem. After the hike, return to the ship for a well-deserved lunch on board, reflecting on the wonders of the day.

In the afternoon, dive into the adventure with a snorkeling session, exploring vibrant underwater life as you swim through crystal-clear waters. Discover colorful coral reefs and swim alongside schools of tropical fish. Afterward, head to the Oceanic Club for more excitement. Challenge yourself with water activities like sliding off the ship’s decks, navigating the waves on a kayak, or gliding across the water on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP). For a more thrilling ride, try a Seabob, cruising beneath the surface for a closer look at marine life.

Day 4: Del Cano Island

Today, explore the underwater world of Isla del Caño in a unique underwater expedition to discover one of the largest and best-preserved coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean. This island is not only an amazing spot for snorkeling and scuba diving, but it also has great conditions for the upbringing of young humpback whales and megapods of spinner dolphins.

Enjoy the afternoon of a guided snorkeling expedition. Surrounded by plenty of fascinating coral reefs, the island is a great place to scuba dive and snorkel.

Day 5-6: Manuel Antonio

Start your day with an exciting hike through Manuel Antonio National Park. As you explore the park's lush trails, discover breathtaking views of tropical beaches, spot native wildlife such as sloths, monkeys, and exotic birds, and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding jungle. Next, experience an adrenaline rush with canopy zip-lining and rappelling through the heart of the jungle. Glide through the treetops and descend from towering heights while soaking in the stunning rainforest scenery.

After a morning of adventure, break for a delicious local lunch before heading out for an exhilarating afternoon of whitewater rafting. Take on the thrills of a Class III river, navigating rapids and enjoying the excitement of Costa Rica's rushing waters.

Later in the afternoon, join a snorkeling excursion in the pristine waters off the coast of Manuel Antonio. Discover colorful coral reefs and swim alongside tropical fish in the crystal-clear Pacific Ocean. End your action-packed day at the Oceanic Club, where you can unwind with access to exclusive water activities, including kayaking, paddleboarding, and lounging by the beach.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
