In 2010 this philosophy enabled the lodge to be awarded the Certificate of Sustainable Tourism (CST) given by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism. This places the Pelicano Mountain Lodge at the forefront of the industry in the region of Pérez Zeledón, being the first business to receive this recognition.

The Lodge implements measures of control in the diverse operations which enables them to achieve a higher quality of service for the tourist while absorbing the impact on the environment and the community. These practices include trash classification, a worm composting program, forest conservation, organic agriculture, the use of biodegradable products and numerous energy saving measures.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
