Are you ready for a day of raging rapids and picturesque views? In the morning, you are picked up from your hotel in Santiago and taken out of the city, across the Maipo Valley, and towards the Andes Mountains. You are surprised how quickly the big city turns into the quaint countryside.
Upon arriving at the river base, you meet expert guides who provide all the necessary rafting gear, such as a wet suit, helmet, paddle, and life jacket. They also go over the technical and safety instructions with you. The Maipo River, flowing between steep canyon gorges and cutting through the heart of the Andes Mountains, is a class 3 and 4 river, and therefore suitable for both first-timers and experienced rafters.
You splash down the river valley for approximately 16 km and enjoy the rapids and spectacular Andean scenery before arriving at San Jose de Maipo, where you drive back to the base. If you are rafting between March and September, you go all the way to El Melocoton, 9 km downstream from the start point. In both cases, the rafting lasts around one hour.
After finishing the adventure, you enjoy a tasty lunch and have the opportunity to relax in a large swimming pool with panoramic mountain views or participate in a short, scenic hike. Afterward, you are taken back to Santiago.
Note: This is a full-day tour. Saturdays and Sundays are the days that normally gather more participants.
