There is no doubt that sustainability is key when thinking of touristic spots, even more when visiting a remote natural location with a fragile environment like Torres del Paine.
EcoCamp, a geodesic dome hotel, not only has a great location right inside the national park with a remarkable view of the towers, but also is focused on ecotourism in every detail of the experience, and has been awarded several green awards and certifications.
Domes are clean, cozy and 100% sustainable, with a low impact design featuring skylight windows, wood stove, composting toilet, among others, located on raised platforms.
Wooden walkways connect all areas and they are made with a bridge like style in order to leave minimal impact and allow wildlife to walk underneath.
EcoCamp is energized by solar, wind and micro-hydro turbines. This produces a small amount of energy that is guarded by practices such as no use of hairdryers or high consumption devices. Their general practices are focused on generating minimal waste.
At each breakfast we were asked to choose our meal from the menu for that day’s dinner, in this way the chef only makes the food that has been ordered.
At EcoCamp there is waste classification separating organic, non-organic, glass and paper.
The leftover food is turned into soil by composting. There is a nursery farm on the premises for vegetables, and the remaining food is purchased from locals.
When participating on an excursion you are provided a metallic container to pack your own food for lunch and you use a refillable water bottle to fill up before leaving the lodge, that was gifted when we arrived on the first day.
Laundry is minimized at EcoCamp, sheets and towels will not be changed in 4 days unless requested, and all laundry from the premises is not done on site to avoid the excessive use of water and chemicals in the premises. The laundry is done by locals in Puerto Natales with biodegradable detergent.
There are a lot of actions taken to preserve the environment, and I learned so much more by participating on a short tour of the hotel showing all their efforts. By staying is this property you are not only experiencing the breathtaking beauty of Patagonia, but also supporting a future where tourism and nature are in perfect balance.
We were referred by a satisfied client and the booking of the trip was everything we wanted to do, and they listened to the types of hotels, sightseeing, etc. we wanted to do.

Rapa Nui was on my bucket list for a long time so I worried that it would not meet my expectations. Our tour could not have been better. Our guide was knowledgeable and professional with an understanding of the island that made it come alive. I would and have recommended this trip to everyone that will listen.

Mary Curry is the BEST! I have worked with her for multiple family trips for over 10 years, and she is responsive, works within your preferences and budget, has great suggestions and has personal travel experience at many of the locations. We prefer active family vacations and Adventure Life and Mary Curry make sure that is what we get!

My tour operator was helpful. Unfortunately she was unable to get my single-supplement canceled. Not too many tours charge for that anymore and I almost canceled my trip because of that.

Excellent communication and coordination for our proposed trip. It couldn't have been smoother, and any question we did have was rapidly addressed. It has made the whole process nearly seamless.
