Rio Cochamó Riverside Lodge boasts of traditional, local-wood cabins and buildings constructed from local materials blend into the tranquil riverside setting. As soon as you arrive, start to unwind over delectable treats from the onsite restaurant. Take a walk in the pristine surrounds or merely relax on the riverside beach.
Riverside Lodge Accommodations
The garden blooms with deep-blue hydrangeas, shocking pink fuschias, bright orange michays and other native plants. Rio Cochamó Riverside Lodge offers guests traditional, local-wood cabins and buildings naturally nestled into the tranquil riverside setting. Three cozy shared cabanas and cottage, all with en suite bathrooms, can accommodate up to a dozen guests. For larger groups and busy periods, there is access to a four-bedroom, self-contained casa, as well as an additional cabana about 100 meters away from the main facility.
Upon arrival, savor lunch or a fresh-baked tea-time treat. Stretch your legs on a short walk, or relax by the beach before a three-course, candle-lit dinner of hearty vegetarian dishes or freshly caught fish. The next morning, a full breakfast, including home-made bread sets you right for the day.
A sandy riverside beach, outdoor tables, a wood-fired sauna, a couple of hammocks, and laundry service are among the facilities available at the Riverside Lodge. Try a horse-back ride along the river or into the mountains. Opt for a kayak or boat excursion. Take a gentle stroll or a vigorous hike. Or simply sit by the river beach, watching kingfishers and the towering Andes in the distance.
The owners live on-site at Riverside Lodge and, along with additional international staff, are always available for information, requests, comments – or just a chat!

Dining at Riverside Lodge
Meals will be the highlight of your stay at Riverside Lodge – and you will never go hungry. Home-made breads, traditional cazuelas, and light, fresh cuisine, along with a small selection of wines and soft drinks, keep guests content and full or energy. Riverside Lodge maintains an on-site restaurant - La Mesa de los Sabores - where the fare is fresh, flavorful, and filling — with an emphasis on wholesome vegetarian foods and fish dishes. All meals – breakfast, lunch, dinner, teas – are included.
Breakfast includes a European-style buffet of rolls and breads, fruit and muesli, cheese, locally harvested Ulmo honey, and a variety of jams. This ‘continental' fare is followed by hot entrées served at your table –crêpes, pancakes, or eggs, with tea, coffee, and juices. Breakfast is normally between 9 and 9.30 am.
Lunch for those at the lodge is enjoyed at the restaurant and includes either a multi-course vegetarian or fish luncheon, including drinks and a delectable dessert. This meal is usually served al fresco, on wooden tables, or in the fogón. Guests on the horse trails or on boating excursions are also well catered for, with packed lunches, including delicacies such as home-made mini pizzas, savory pastries, fresh fruit, and muffins.
Once – or the traditional tea-time – is a welcome afternoon treat for guests returning from the day's activities, as well as newly arriving guests. Tea or coffee are accompanied by delicate pastries, hearty cakes, or fragrant muffins. And dinner is definitely the highlight for the hungry! A three-course meal, with china, silver, and candle light is usually served in the restaurant.
Camping at Riverside Lodge
At the Riverside Lodge, campers can pitch their tents under the trees or in an open pasture along the rivers' edge. They have access to a beach-side fogón, for cooking and relaxing, as well as to bathrooms and a hot shower about 25 metres away. Additional services such as sauna, laundry, and firewood are also available on request. Campers can purchase staples from the restaurant kitchen (bread, milk, eggs, pasta, chicken, etc.), or they can choose to join lodge guests for any of the daily meals – breakfast, picnic lunches, dinners. Campers are limited to a maximum of four tents at any one time to maintain the unique atmosphere of this lodge.
