San Juan, founded in the 1520s by Spanish settlers, is both the largest city and the capital city of Puerto Rico. A territory of the United States, Puerto Rico is comprised of the large main island as well as five smaller islands, including the popular islands of Vieques and Culebra (both ports of call on select SeaDream voyages). SeaDream II docks in Old San Juan, the oldest part of the city. Parts of this historic port city are still surrounded by stone walls dating back to the 1500s. Narrow cobblestone streets, small shops, and points of interest like the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista make this charming city a great place to stroll. Guests sailing into or departing from San Juan will enjoy views of Castillo de San Felipe del Morro, a mid- 1700’s Spanish fortress. San Juan Luiz Munoz Marin Airport is approximately a 30-minute drive to the port in Old San Juan. The currency in Puerto Rico is USD.
Samana is one of the Dominican Republic’s less known yet equally exotic gems. Its natural wonders take the shape of coconut palms contouring the sea, tropical rainforests, and charming villages. Take a walk around the local markets, dine in seaview restaurants and if you’re lucky spot some humpback whales. For adrenaline-infused adventures, take an ATV tour or go ziplining in Samana Bay.
If we were to describe Turks and Caicos in just a few words, we would say exquisite beaches, and sun-kissed waters. For almost every activity there’s a dedicated beach for you to beach flop, kayak, or simply watch windsurfers. Spot stingrays, enjoy snorkeling and diving options, and bask in the scenic milieu of Turks and Caicos.
Providenciales is home to the world’s most magnificent shorelines and independent snorkeling. Visit the Island Fish Fry for great local dining, spend the day lounging across the turquoise waters, and take a dive in one of the most diverse underwater cosmos in Bohio Dive Resort. Indulge in every minute of this paradise.
Originally called “Yuma” by Arawak Indians, and later renamed “Fernandina” by the one and only Christopher Columbus, Long Island has a special presence. The natural contours of the island give way to two different coastlines—the exotic cliffs and caves off the east coast and the pure Atlantic waves and the sandy side gently sloping into The Bahamas Bank. In this golden age of travel, visiting the unparalleled beauty of Long Island in The Bahamas is a must.
As part of the Exuma Cays, Staniel Cay is one magical part of The Bahamas. Located south of Nassau, this island is an unsung paradise. Visit the famous Swimming Pigs at Pig Beach, where you’ll spot numerous pigs racing over to get your attention right above crystal-clear waters. Dive or snorkel in the sun-kissed beaches of Exumas and enjoy local dining options for an exclusive look at The Bahamas’ eternal culture and ambiance.
Despite being a small island, Great Harbor has quite the personality. Aside from overly delicious bars and restaurants you can spot on a short walk, you’ll also be greeted by the aromatic smells of multiple bakeries around the island. For aquatic getaways, make sure to go on a diving or snorkeling exploration in the stunning sun-kissed waters of Great Harbor.
