Day 1: Arrive in Yellowknife | Fly to Blachford Lodge

Arrive at Blachford Lodge after a scenic float plane journey from Yellowknife early this morning, where you enjoy aerial views of the boreal forest and pristine waters. We recommend arriving in Yellowknife at least one day before your Blachford adventure begins. 

Upon arrival, the lodge staff welcomes you. Participate in an orientation that covers fishing techniques, boat operation, and all the lodge amenities to ensure a smooth stay.

Settle into your cozy accommodation, designed for comfort and relaxation. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring gourmet dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. End the day by relaxing in the lakefront sauna or hot tub.

Your next few days may vary from the sample itinerary below. Blachford Lodge offers a variety of outdoor excursions that immerse you in the breathtaking beauty of the Canadian wilderness. From fishing for Lake Trout to hiking and kayaking, there's something for every adventurer. Click HERE for more details on their exciting tours and activities.

Day 2: Exploring Blachford Lodge

Wake up early and opt to head out for morning fishing. Spend a few hours targeting Lake Trout and Northern Pike, which are plentiful near the surface at this time of year. Please note that Blachford offers equipment for trying your hand at unguided fishing. For a guided fishing expedition, additional cost will apply; please let our team know if you are interested in this addition! All fishing requires a fishing license to be obtained before your arrival at the lodge.

After fishing, return to the lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon hiking around the lodge grounds, discovering northern wildflowers and berries while spotting wildlife such as eagles, loons, and beavers.

In the evening, take out a canoe or kayak to explore the calm waters of Blachford Lake at your own pace. Enjoy dinner and spend the evening watching the sunset.
 

Day 3: Blachford Lodge Adventure Activities

Begin your morning with a walk to the nearby lakes, exploring the stunning grounds around the lodge. Return to the lodge for a tasty chef-prepared lunch. Dedicate the afternoon to searching for wild berries to learn about the local flora with one of Blachford's guides.

Join a guided nature hike to gain insights into the local ecosystem and enhance your appreciation of the Northern Canadian wilderness.

Wind down the day with a relaxing session in the sauna or hot tub, followed by another gourmet meal prepared by the lodge's chefs.

Day 4: Blachford Lodge Adventure Activities

Today, go on a wildlife-watching boat tour. Navigate the lake and observe beavers, loons, and other native wildlife in their natural habitats. Enjoy a unique shore lunch featuring freshly caught fish from the morning, cooked right on the shore.

Spend the evening in a canoe or kayak, paddling on the tranquil waters as the sun sets. End the day with dinner back at the lodge.

Day 5: Blachford Lodge Adventure Activities

Today, prepare for a canoe adventure to explore more remote areas of Blachford Lake and discover untouched parts of the lake. Later, take a walk among the wildflowers that surround the lodge and enjoy the beauty of the Northern wilderness.

In the evening, relax in the hot tub or sauna to soothe your muscles before enjoying another dinner at the lodge.

Day 6-7: Blachford Lodge Adventure Activities

Spend the morning on a guided photography tour. A professional photographer shares tips and techniques, helping you capture memorable images of this location.

After lunch at the lodge, dedicate your afternoon to wellness. Enjoy a session in the lodge's sauna and hot tub followed by a restorative yoga session using the lodge's equipment.

Conclude your day with a gourmet dinner and a quiet evening of stargazing, appreciating the peaceful ambiance of the wilderness.
 

Day 8: Fly to Yellowknife | Return Home

On the morning of departure, enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by the lodge chefs. Take time to say goodbye to the staff and fellow guests, capturing a few last photos of the landscape. Board the float plane for a final scenic flight back to Yellowknife, filled with memories of the Northern Canadian wilderness.
