Ready to explore the ATM cave!We are up early, eat a hearty meal and are off to St Ignacio. We canoe up the Rio Macal looking for local wildlife. We spot many iguanas, bats, and birds. We return to St Ignacio for lunch at a local restaurant. We try gibnut (a large rodent) and Geoff tries the local pickled habanero peppers. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Mouth on fire. It took a little time and lots of liquids to put out the fire.(Our local guide thought it was funny(he was eating the same thing), but I was grateful as I was about to take a HUGE bite of the same thing just after he took his. Thanks Geoff!! Our travels to Xunantunich include crossing a river with a hand cranked ferry. It took only one vehicle at a time. We climbed the hill to the ruins and then climbed to the top of the ruins. We were close to the border here and could see a long way into Guatemala. As we departed we were serenaded by howler monkeys. We drive back to Pook's Hill in time for another fabulous supper. Some of us then went for a night nature walk. All sorts of creatures that you will not see in the daylight are out. Scorpions, snakes, spiders, bats and much more.

I've worked with Adventure Life before in planning trips and appreciate the quality of trips they put together. They use knowledgeable local guides, comfortable lodgings, and assist with transportation. I find trip planning stressful, so am happy to turn it over to them. They work within our parameters of time, budget, activity level, and types of activities to give us great experiences!

Jess was so helpful in talking me through some of the trip options I'd told her I was interested in, and then also bringing up similar alternatives with more flexible dates. Now that everything is booked I realize all the extra things she figured out for us as well, besides booking the transfers from and to each location, she realized that we wouldn't make it to my desired flight time on three departure date and was able to easily add another day so that even our departure day is stress free!
