I knew for this visit to Belize (my third!) that we wanted to stay in a new-to-us beach location. Having visited Ambergris Caye on a previous visit, we considered Hopkins, Placencia, Caye Caulker, and a few other smaller atolls. We committed to Caye Caulker after discovering Blu Zen - it was just the right fit for our multi-generational group. The units are 2-5 bedroom apartments with well-equipped kitchens, multiple bathrooms, living & dining areas, and even a washer & dryer. Traveling with my husband, 4-year-old daughter, and mother-in-law, we were quite comfortable in our 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit.
The grounds were well-maintained and had three separate pools, which meant that they were never crowded. We ate a majority of our meals on the property between the two restaurants, and ventured into town occasionally, though our best meals were definitely at the Lotus restaurant on the property, open-air by the main pool (still drooling over the breakfast tacos and shrimp ceviche!).
The mornings were spent making sand castles and having splash contests, and we would retreat into our air conditioned apartment to rest during the heat of the day. Blu Zen offered a wonderful spa, a small on-site market if you care to venture into your own cooking, as well as bicycles to explore the island. The water taxi ran on a fixed schedule throughout the day to access downtown Caye Caulker, with always plenty of space to accommodate the guests.
Jess was so helpful in talking me through some of the trip options I'd told her I was interested in, and then also bringing up similar alternatives with more flexible dates. Now that everything is booked I realize all the extra things she figured out for us as well, besides booking the transfers from and to each location, she realized that we wouldn't make it to my desired flight time on three departure date and was able to easily add another day so that even our departure day is stress free!

The trip planner understood what we wanted to do and see, and found what we hope to be a great match for our interests and style of travel.

Basically everything. The transfers from lodge to lodge were all timely and smooth (even though we arrived 3 hours late!) with great drivers. The lodges and food were all top notch. The guides were excellent and very knowledgeable about local history and wildlife. Chaa lodge stands out as exceptional. I ended up with an infection leaving Chaa, but they arranged for driver to stop at doctor, and he even got us to a pharmacy for prescription and a great drive to coast.
