Broome, often called the pearl of North West Australia, is Western Australia’s entry point to the stunning Kimberley wilderness. It’s known for Cable Beach’s famous white sands, making it a top holiday spot in the State. Broome sits 2,240 km (1,390 mi) north of Perth, with a permanent population of around 14,436 that swells to over 45,000 during tourist season.
Stretching from the Dampier Peninsula to Collier Bay, the 800 islands of the Dampier Archipelago and the nearby mainland offer a playground of unique experiences, perfect for exploring by a small expedition yacht. Named after the English buccaneer William Dampier, this archipelago is one of Australia’s most stunning island groups. Some islands are recognized as Important Bird Areas, while others host Western Australia’s largest population of breeding Green Sea turtles. The coastline features secluded beaches, mangrove estuaries, and rugged landscapes that reveal the land’s geological history.
The area is famous for spots like the Lacepede Islands, Yampi Sound, Adele Island, and Cape Leveque. With Paspaley Pearl, you also reach places that larger boats can’t, like Hidden Island, Whirlpool Pass, Sunday Island, Strickland Bay, Tallon Island, Hell’s Gate, Edeline, and Cascade Bay.
Located 370km north of Broome and 460km west of Kununurra, Kuri Bay lies at the heart of the Lalang-Garram/Camden Sound Marine Park. It was the location of Australia’s first cultured pearl farm and is named after the company’s first principal, Tokuichi Kuribayashi. Today, the clear, pristine waters are the home of Paspaley, the world’s most important producer of cultured pearls. Such is the superior and widely recognized quality of the gems; they are in their own category and recognized simply as ‘Paspaley Pearls’.
Guests can experience a behind-the-scenes guided walking tour of the Paspaley facilities and discover the intricate processes required to produce the most beautiful pearls in the world.
Located in one of the most remote parts of Australia, with no road access and the nearest town over 250 kilometers away, Collier Bay and Camden Sound are known for their rugged beauty and the second-largest tides in the world. These massive tides have shaped the ancient landscape, creating unique phenomena like the Horizontal Falls (Garaanngaddim). The area holds cultural significance for the Dambeemangarddee, a saltwater people who have lived along this coast for thousands of years, with their culture deeply tied to these tidal movements. The rich marine environment includes Montgomery Reef (Yowjab), the world’s largest inshore reef system, and attracts the largest population of migrating humpback whales each year.
The region is known for iconic spots like Horizontal Falls (Garaanngaddim), Montgomery Reef (Yowjab), Raft Point (Ngumbree), and Freshwater Cove (Wijingarra Bard Bard).
With Paspaley Pearl, you can also access places that larger boats can’t, including Sampson Inlet, Hall Point, Red Cone Creek, Sapphire Falls, Ruby Falls, Sale River, Walcott Inlet, Prior Point, and Langgi.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

I don’t have the words to describe it but the last week has been one of the best I can remember. 6 days of adventure in South East Alaska including trekking through lush rain forest, sitting in silence listening to glaciers calving, up early to see the northern lights, kayaking and stupidly swimming in iceberg frozen waters ! (That actually hurt).
Animal sightings including black and brown bears, Minke and hundreds of Humpack Whales, porpoises, sea lions, mountain goats, harbour seals, bald eagles, salmon and more birds than I can count. Wonderful friends and connections made. A huge shout out to Trevor and his totally amazing crew on the Admiralty Dream whose energy and enthusiasm made this most incredible experience.

Excellent safari trip with Adventure Life and Albatross Travel. Special shout out to our guides Eric Turasha (Kenya), and Blasi Shirima (Tanzania) from Albatross Travel. Both were world class!!! The trip went off without a hitch; all the camps were amazing…worth mentioning...one of the camps we were going to stay in on the Tanzanian side was damaged by high winds so we ended up in a different camp (Mara under Canvas Camp). Can't say enough good things! A great experience and superb service!!
