South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands jut skyward from the horizon in the far south Atlantic Ocean. They are largely uninhabited, their snowy reaches given over to the multitude of wildlife that call them home. King penguins, macaroni penguins, carnivorous ducks, the mighty albatross, and fur seals by the millions roam these islands and their waters year around. South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands are a beautiful stopping-off point on an Antarctic cruise.
