Day 1: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | Embark

Nestled along the southern edge of Guanabara Bay and framed by the iconic silhouettes of Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain, Rio de Janeiro's harbor is among the most breathtaking ports in the world. Arriving by sea, Sugarloaf Mountain greets you like a welcoming beacon, its summit accessible via an exhilarating cable car ride that rewards you with sweeping views of the city and its famous beaches: Copacabana, Tijuca, Ipanema, and Leblon.

Rio pulses with energy and vibrancy, a spirit best showcased during the spectacular Carnaval Sambadrome parades, though its infectious rhythm endures year-round. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its "Carioca Landscapes Between the Mountain and the Sea," the city offers a wealth of must-see landmarks. These include the awe-inspiring Christ the Redeemer statue atop Corcovado, the verdant expanse of Tijuca Rainforest Park, the storied Maracanã Stadium for football enthusiasts, and, of course, the unforgettable journey up Sugarloaf Mountain.

Day 2: Parati, Brazil

The picturesque harbor town of Paraty (Parati), a colonial gem along Brazil’s verdant Costa Verde, enchants with its rich history and timeless charm. Established by the Portuguese in 1597, Paraty thrived as a key transportation hub in the 17th and 18th centuries following the discovery of gold in Minas Gerais. However, the town faded into obscurity after Brazil’s independence in 1822. Today, its beautifully preserved Old Town—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019—boasts the country’s most extensive collection of colonial architecture.

Stroll along its pedestrian-only cobblestone streets, lined with whitewashed buildings adorned with colorful trim, and marvel at the elegant historic churches. Visit the 18th-century Forte Defensor Perpétuo, once a stronghold against pirates, which now houses a small museum and offers stunning coastline views. To dive deeper into history, explore a section of the Caminho do Ouro (Gold Trail), a 1,200-mile route built by enslaved labor to connect Minas Gerais with other regions. Starting in Paraty, this trail winds through the lush Atlantic rainforest of Serra da Bocaina National Park, leading to serene waterfalls and crystal-clear freshwater pools.

Included a Walking Tour of the Historical Parati Experience

Paraty is a beautifully preserved colonial town celebrated for its 18th-century architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Stroll its charming cobblestone streets with your guide, passing landmarks like the Church of Santa Rita de Cassia and the House of Culture museum in an elegant colonial mansion.

Along the way, discover colonial homes, unique boutiques, and galleries showcasing local artists, often at work creating their pieces. After a two-hour guided walk, return to the ship, though guests wishing to stay longer and explore independently are welcome to do so at their convenience.

Included Scenic Schooner Cruising Experience

Surrounded by lush rainforest and emerald waters, Paraty is ideal for exploration by boat. Departing from the pier, board a schooner to visit nearby beaches, guided by insights into local lore. Enjoy two stops along the way, where you can swim and relax in the warm, crystal-clear waters.

Please note: Wherever Included Experience tours are offered, guests can participate in only one included experience per call unless otherwise specified in the tour description.

Day 3: Camboriu, Brazil

Camboriu, Brazil, offers a vibrant mix of natural beauty and urban flair. Known for its stunning coastline and modern skyline, the city is a prime destination for relaxation and exploration. Boat tours along the coast are ideal for Camboriu’s unique scenery, including secluded coves and nearby islands. The city also features bustling streets with chic boutiques, lively bars, and excellent dining options to savor Brazilian cuisine in style.

Day 6: Montevideo, Uruguay

Tucked between Brazil and Argentina, the Republic of Uruguay has unique traditions and identity. Often dubbed as the 'Switzerland of South America,' Montevideo mirrors Switzerland's discreet banking system.

Day 7-8: Days At Sea

Spend your day at sea enjoying the many facilities available.

Day 9-10: Falkland Island Experience

There is nowhere else in the world like the Falkland Islands. This archipelago is a remote, wind-swept place of stunning landscapes, dazzling white sand beaches, magnificent wildlife, and a gregarious mix of people. Over 200 islands surround the two main islands of West and East Falkland. These isolated and treeless shores are home to an overwhelming abundance of birdlife: albatross, penguins, caracaras, geese, and many others. Perhaps it was the very remoteness of the islands; the allure of its barren landscapes, pure in their austerity and colorful in their details, and the vast open skies that attracted settlers to its shores long ago; the islands have an accumulated a wealth of maritime and military history. More than three hundred shipwrecks litter its shores, while the stark white crosses of both British and Argentine soldiers stand as a silent reminder of the war of 1982. Numerous claims for the islands have been made throughout their history. Nowadays, the Falkland Islands are a self-governing British Overseas Territory.

Day 11: Stanley

The lonely lighthouse at Cape Pembroke welcomes arrivals to Stanley. It alerts ships to the treacherous rocks, reefs, and shoals for which the Falkland Islands have long been known. With a population of over 2,000 people, Stanley is the largest settlement on the islands. Its gardens, tea rooms, brightly colored houses, and hotels lend it a slightly Victorian feel, seemingly suspended in time. The Anglican Cathedral, the southernmost in the world, stands prominently on Stanley's waterfront.

The Falklands' unique abundance of wildlife is evident in Stanley. Dolphins visit its harbor while steamer ducks, kelp gulls, and other birds abound on shore. Southern sea lions can be spotted basking in the sun. Southern giant petrels often fly through town, oblivious to the human presence. Founded in the 1840s, the town was named after Edward Smith-Stanley, Earl of Derby, who never visited the islands.

INCLUDED SHORE EXCURSION: Bluff Cove Lagoon:  Penguins & Tea

Explore the Falkland Islands' wildlife on a scenic off-road journey to Bluff Cove Lagoon, home to breeding colonies of King and Gentoo penguins. After a short drive through Stanley, you switch to a 4x4 for a rugged ride to the penguin rookery. Enjoy a guided walk through the colony, set against a lagoon and sandy beach backdrop, where sea lions and Magellanic penguins are occasional visitors.

Relax at the Sea Cabbage Cafe with hot drinks and homemade treats, surrounded by stunning coastal views. Visit the Bluff Cove Museum to learn about local history and wildlife and browse unique souvenirs crafted from farm wool. You can also have time to photograph, explore, or soak in the pristine surroundings.

Included Port Stanley Highlights

Explore the charming capital of Stanley, which is rich in history and culture. Drive along Ross Road to see the Cross of Sacrifice, 1982 Memorial Wood, and Whalebone Cove, home to the wreck of the Lady Elizabeth. Pass landmarks like Surf Bay, former minefields, and Government House, pausing for photos.

Visit the Falkland Islands Museum to discover artifacts from Stanley's past, including whaling relics and local history exhibits. Upon returning, admire sights like the Liberation Memorial, Christ Church Cathedral, and Victory Green before returning to the town center.

Please note: Wherever Included Experience tours are offered, guests can participate in only one included experience per call unless otherwise specified in the tour description.

Day 12-13: Days At Sea

Spend your day at sea enjoying the many facilities available.

Day 14-18: South Georgia Experience

The South Georgia Islands Group is one of the least visited destinations on Earth. It consists of South Georgia Island and smaller surrounding islands and rocks. Largely untouched and blessed with a sub-Antarctic climate and nutrient-rich seas, it represents a sort of Lost Eden of unspoiled wildlife habitat. Although ice and snow are present, they are strikingly green with vegetation compared to Antarctica. They teem with wildlife, including massive populations of king and other penguin species, fur seals, elephant seals, albatrosses, giant petrels, and other seabirds. Whales, orcas, and dolphins abound offshore in Earth's most diverse marine ecosystem. Your captain and expedition leader plan your days in South Georgia to offer you various experiences in this remote and enchanting destination based on conditions and wildlife reports. These will undoubtedly include visits to historic communities such as Grytviken, memorializing Ernest Shackleton, the immense breeding colony of king penguins on the Salisbury Plain, and other highlights, along with less well-known but equally unforgettable sites. Your veteran expedition team members enrich your experience during presentations and in casual conversations and interpret passing sights during time spent cruising. They will also accompany you on landings at the various sites and excursions in Zodiacs and kayaks.

The SBN South Georgia Experience

The South Georgia Islands Group, one of the least visited destinations on earth, is a gem in the heart of the sub-Antarctic. Comprising of South Georgia Island and its smaller surrounding islands and rocks, this untouched paradise houses a rich tapestry of wildlife, thriving in a climate that is as harsh as it is beautiful. Despite ice and snow, these islands are remarkably green, their vegetation starkly contrasting with the icy expanses of Antarctica. This is a Lost Eden where nature reigns supreme, teeming with an array of wildlife, including vast colonies of king and other penguin species, fur and elephant seals, albatrosses, giant petrels, and other seabirds. Offshore, whales, orcas, and dolphins thrive in the nutrient-rich waters, making this the most diverse marine ecosystem.

Your journey through the South Georgia Islands Group is carefully curated by your captain and Expedition Leader based on local conditions and wildlife reports. You venture to historic communities like Grytviken, visit the sprawling breeding colony of king penguins on Salisbury Plain, and explore the rarely-visited, lesser-known sites nature allows.

Spend your day at sea enjoying the many facilities available.

Day 21-26: Antarctic Experience

Depending on weather, ice conditions, and reported wildlife distribution during your voyage, your captain and expedition team will program an additional day of discovery and adventure for you in Antarctica.
